DA 35/2.4 AL vs CZJ 35/2.4

Hi! Yestarday I bought DA 35/2.4 AL at SrsMicrosystems. Before I made up my mind they let me play with it for a while with wide range od pentax dslrs from k-x to k-5.. but in the end I put it on my lovely k10d :> Works like a charm! and is really sharp :) Neither ff nor fb.. or my eyes+focusing screen failed.
Today I can't wait for a better weather to try it outside. Meanwhile my friends will have to live with my camera in front of their faces. If I find anything suitable for the audience, I will put it here.

Thanks for help and wish me luck hunting for CZJ 35/2.4 ;P

Ok, let me begin with prices..
I found DA 35/2.4 AL for ~234USD and CZJ 35/2.4(mint condition) for ~180USD. Now I have a dilema whether to buy a Pentax or hunt for CZJ.. Can you please help? What do you think of prices I found? Cheap? Good price? Overpriced?

Wow! This looks very promising... especially when it comes to iq/price factor. Watching such examples make me one step closer to buying that lens.

There is one more thing that came to my mind. Could anyone who read this thread provide me with an info ona price and a region, where You bought or seen CZJ 35/2.4? I need one more reason to make a decision and I'm asking You because in my country CZJ costs as much as new 35mm from Pentax.. and sometimes it costs even more.

Thanks!

Thanks for the answer :) Can't wait to see the results. Unintentionally you've made all readers wait for Your test :) despite the fact that there are CJZ 35/2.4 and DA 35/2.4 AL owners among them.. I'm quite sure of that ;P

Hi! Once again I'm facing a choice. I'm about to buy 35mm lens and I need advice. What to choose, how does one compare to each other in terms of iq, usability, parameters, and price :)
I mainly use MF lenses and try to convince myself to AF. I'd be grateful for examples and thoughts.
Thanks

@forensicscientist: Please let us know about Your experience with this lens. I'll be waiting for your samples as anyone else, willing to buy such lens.
btw
I'm curious what's your main application for this lens.

Thanks and 'see' you soon :)

Hi! I'm thinking of this lens ^ but have no clue whether it is good or even worth considering. I've found some photos on flickr recently but most where on a film..
To be clear, it is a MF lens, but has an 'A' setting.

If you have any experience with it or any good examples of how it works whit a pentax body, it would be a good time to show :)

Lens looks more or less like this(pict. borrowed from one of the google hits)

long time no see... :)
Finally, I bought 35mm and it's M-35/2.8. Unfortunately(but luckily) it came with a 'lazy' aperture and although in mint condition, I had to use screwdriver.. Knowing what is wrong I managed to get another copy of M-35/2. but this time it was a complete mess.. with one exception - it had a broken aperture lever :) I've put the broken lever in place of the good one in the first lens and voila! The shiny M-35/2.8 with preselected aperture ;P
It works like a charm in Av and here is a result(with yellow filter attached):

Still looking for the best application for this lens, but as long as it's close to normal on dslr(~52mm) I find it quite good outdoors.

btw
Thank you all for previous oppinions and tips in choosing 35mm. Unfortunately, this time I couldn't afford to get CZJ or anything close to A-35/2.

Cheers

Helios 44-2 question and a couple of photos

Leya, I've got helios 44-2 with the 'reverse' markings on aperture ring too. ..and so at f2 it is actually at f16. I wonder whether it was on a purpose(joke of course) or was it just a new guy on a shift in a factory that day :)

35mm dilemma

Wow! Thanks for all replies.
..it's true, 35 may be boring :) but it's the one my eyes are hungry for. Sth less dangerous than lba though ;)
I already have 24 Vivtar from Komine(I guess)and although it shows up some deformations on dslr(which I use the most lately) it seems to be really good on film. As for the CZJ 35/2.4, I was hoping to get one for a long time, especially for its mfd. I can't say if it's fast, but seems to be reasonable. On the other hand, in my country genuine pentax lenses(A,M,K) like 35/2 or 24/2.8 cost far far more than 300$ which is to much for my budget.

Reading Your posts I made up my mind and hopefully, soon I will have CZJ. If I found A35/2.8 for as much as 35/2,4 I wouldn't hesitate...
Anyway, when I get one I'll post some shots for You.

Thanks for help! :)

35mm dilemma

Thank You all for the answers. I do realize that pentax-a 35/2.8 is a 'rare' lens and I do know about m42 in case of flek. The reason I'm asking for help is peeking the differences between those two such as mfd or quality in terms of built and photos. ..and the reason I am limiting my choice to these two is price and preference for mf over af lenses :) Simply, I cannot afford to get anything with "Limited" label ;)
Both lenses seem to be good and close to normal on dslr. Unfortunately, there is not many descriptions available on the net, regarding eg. flek 35/2.4 + pentax dslr.

I'd be grateful for any info on experience with those lenses with pentax dslr.

Hi,
I'm about to make a choice, but I'm short on time... and I need help! I can't make up my mind! I want to buy a 35mm lens but found two: CZJ Flektogon 35/2.4 and Pentax-A 35/2.8.

Which one would You choose and why? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Problem with SMC FA 50 f1.4

Hi! I'm sorry if I the problem I want to mention was described anywhere else(which I couldn't find anyway) but it is something that makes me a bit nervous..

After 2 months or so I decided to use my smc fa-50 f.14 on my k10d. It's (almost) brand new, used only few times but when I was using it before, I didn't find any problems... until today.
I treat lenses carefuly and keep them in a safe place, where nothing/no one can damage them. When I put the fa50 on dslr I noticed that when I move the camera from left to right, something seems to click inside the lens.
I tried to 'examine' the problem and found that it happens only when the apperture lever is pushed(as if it was mounted on the camera or the lens was wide open). Of course it has no impact on focus or apperture but it is very annoying. Nothing is moving inside, at least nothing that can be seen. When it comes to apperture ring and blades, it works perfect.

I still don't know what to think of it. Is it something I should take under consideration and service the lens or forget it and enjoy taking photos with it? :)

Did it happen to anyone else? Please help.

I was in the same position as You some time ago and finally bought Helios 44k-4. I was looking for a cheap alternative for my analog camera and was tired of fighting with m42 to P/K adapter on my P30... and found this Helios with K mount.

I must say that for a such cheap lens(I gave ~12$) it's quite good. Build of this lens is not bad either. As for IQ I found that it is a bit dark on dslr. I think there is the same issue as with j-9 - underexposed shots at wide apertures.

..what do You think of this photo? I'm still learning to use Jupiter-9 with k10D. I guess there is too much light, but I think it makes those donuts look more tasty ;)

Hi!
Can anyone tell me something about Soligor 19-35 mm lens? I can hardly find any info on the internet.
I found such lens on the internet sale and I was wondering whether it is worth any attention? I was looking for a cheap, manual and wide lens and though that this lens could handle all my requirements. Can anyone post photos taken using this lens? What do You think of it's build quality?

I was thinking of using it with k10d.
I'd be grateful for help. Thanks!

Thanks to all of You for reply. I did a research meanwhile and found that lens I found is way too overpriced. After reading some reviews, taking Your opinion under consideration, I find no explanation for such high price

Once again thank You for quick reply to this post.

Hi everyone!

Despite of information provided on this page, I would like to know what's Your opinion on this lens.

I found one in local shop for ~300USD and I wonder whether it is worth it's price. The sale is titled "legendary and rare", but is it all it is?
I'd be grateful for Your opinion and few shots taken with this lens(if You have any). Links to galleries with photos taken using SMC PENTAX-A 1:2,8 135mm would be great addition.

Thanks
