I understand that the cause of soft images (particularly in jpeg) is due to the aggressive nature of the high ISO noise reduction setting. If have it set to auto or high it can produce soft images.

Hi,
I am in the UK and I have just bought a New K-3 silver edition + Battery grip. The serial number is 2576xxx.
I have just checked the firmware and it is v1.00 do I have to install every firmware individually or do I just install the latest v1.11.
For the record I have owned a K-500,and K-5 and never had an issue with the mirrow flutter, fingers crossed with the K-3.
Because it is a 2576xxx serial number does it mean it is an old stock item particularly as it only has firmware v1.00 installed or is that normal.

Have just subscribed to this thread after getting a nearly new K-5 (switching from Nikon) and acquiring some lens to get the best out of it.
I got the 18-55 WR kit lens with the camera but wanted a good landscape lens that I could also do some sunrise/sunset time-lapse and some astro-scapes.
I had used the Samyang 14mm f2,8 for this in the past but wanted to put on my Tiffen 3.0 ND filter.
I decided to go for the Sigma 10-20 f3.5 based on value for money and IQ (got it yesterday and can't wait to get some great shots). The extra stop shouldn't make too much difference but I hope the coma at the edges aren't too bad as I understand this can be a little soft at the edges wide open.
I will post some photos when I get a good shoot.
I am trawling through all the excellent posts on this thread to gleam all I can to get the best out of it.
Has anyone had any experience of the Samyang 14mm to give me their opinion of the advantages I can get out of this lens.

Hi,.
Well add me to your list.
I have just converted from Nikon and bought the K-500 as it packs a lot of punch for your money.
I will be doing mostly landscape and time-lapse and have the Samyang 14mm f2.8 as my main lens as I do some astro photography too and the coma is just brilliant. It's also as sharp as a pin.
I currently have the 18-55 DAL kit lens but want to replace this with a superior zoom. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Love the build quality but am finding the menu set-up options a little difficult to get used to and there are no youtube tutorial videos unlike the multitude of Nikon ones you can find.
Any help there would be fantastic.
I will just have to wade through the manual best as I can. Lol.
Took my first pics today of a wicked sunrise (the redest I have seen) and used the kit lens as the Samyang manual lens wouldn't work.. I didn't realise you had to alter the setting within the menu ??????
The are going to be some quirks I will need to know coming from Nikon, but am looking forward to my journey with my new Pentax.
