I sold it because I bought it with the intention of flipping it for a profit. Bought it for $80 and sold for $240 last weekend on eBay. I really didn't want to let it go because it was in pretty fantastic shape. I did shoot a roll of film through it and I think the meter was off because the shots didn't turn out very good at all. It may very well have been user error. There was a battery in the camera, although I have no idea how old the battery was and the meter did react to various changes in lighting so I just tested it to see how it would turn out. Also, I have no idea how old the film was or specifically how I came about the roll of film. I shoot mostly MF on my Bronicas now, so the weight of of Ultramatic really wasn't a big deal to me.

here's a couple of shots of the beauty!

I just bought (and shortly thereafter sold) and Ultramatic CS and you're right, it is certainly heavy! I was also asked if it was a medium format camera by the guy at the local camera shop when I brought it in.

Is it likely that anyone who may have this grip would part with it? Maybe not but in the off chance that someone is willing to sell the genuine grip I'm interested in buying it. Thanks!

Some more Ektar 100 shots from my ZX-7 and FA 100mm lens developed and scanned by CVS pharmacy with a little editing done in Lightroom

here's one that is straight from the pharmacy's cd because the edited version had a lot of strange artifacts:

well I got scans of one of my rolls of Ektar 100 and they actually came out a little better than the prints. Maybe that is typical, but the prints seemed darker. here are a few of the shots:

if you don't mind sharing, could you tell me what "pro" lab you use? I might look into seeing how that may change the results as compared to the local drugstore. Thanks!

I recently started shooting some film which I really enjoy and what got me to get back into it were some photos I saw on flickr taken with Kodak Ektar 100, so I bought a few rolls. Let me tell you, my shots are horrible compared to what I was hoping for. The colors are mostly dull where I expected them to be bright and I'm wondering if part of my problem is that I'm dropping the film off at a local CVS (pharmacy) to get developed? I don't have any experience developing my own photos and maybe their cookie cutter machine just won't produce great results? I should grab some of the photos and post them here to show what I mean. The camera I was using was either a P30 or ZX-7 and the lenses I was using was anywhere from my Pentax-M 35mm or Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4 or my FA 100mm macro. I don't think any of these are really poor lenses, but maybe I'm wrong?

I'm possibly interested in this, although if you can't provide photos of it then it'll be hard for me to justify just sending you money for something I haven't seen. I hope you understand where I'm coming from. Also, do you happen to have the BG-10 grip for it as well? Thanks!

Lens Loop: A Better Camera Strap.

Hello everyone. I just came across this project from kickstarter.com and though it seemed like a worthy enough cause and wanted to share. As a disclaimer, I haven't yet, but do plan on puchasing one for myself which would give me a title of "backer" but outside of seeing the product actually being made and getting it at a discount of 20% off, I receive no financial gain from showing this to you. Also, to be double sure I wasn't breaking any forum rules, I did check with Adam to be sure I could post this.

It's a camera strap that is made from recycled automobile safety belts and screws right into the tripod mount on your camera. check out the link for more detailed info:

Lens Loop: A Better Camera Strap. by Vadim Gordin — Kickstarter

Also, it should be noted that the product will only be produced if the goal of raising $5000 is met. If it is not met, your credit card/payment will not be charged according to the site.

I'm not quite sure I see it...but at the same time I've been in these rooms so maybe my perception of them is a bit skewed anyways. To me, I feel like the photos make the room look longer than they really are. for instance, in the following photo, you can see the doorway which looks so small which to me makes it seem like it's much further off in the distance than it actually is.

Maybe that's exactly what you are saying, though. lol

Wow....check out the crazy flare orb I got about mid-way on the bottom of this shot. it might be kinda hard to see, but it's kinda cool. Really don't know what specifically created it, and I don't think I've ever seen something like this before. it's very spherical. The shot is converted in lightroom, but otherwise straight out of the camera.

here is the shot edited a bit so you can see the flare a little easier:

haha...oh no...there was quite a bit of distortion. I had to PP them to fix that. And I'm no professional so I may not have done a great job, but my boss was happy and he was the one paying for the shoot!

I just can't seem to lock onto focus at all with it when using autofocus. Just seems soft even stopped down at f/5.6. I have been happy with it when manually focusing at 1:1 magnification though.

I personally haven't noticed any real issues, but I'll be honest in saying that I've not really pixel peeped the photos I've taken with the lens. I did use it for a job where I needed to shoot a furnished interior for a house that was on the market and although I'm sure I stayed pretty safe with f/8 and used a tripod, I was extremely pleased with the results. if you'd like to look through the photos to see for yourself, they can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottspeese/sets/72157625341515368/with/5159115076/

my FA 100mm f/2.8 macro on the other hand....I'm really displeased with it's focusing abilities... :-(

I got the 3.5 version as I just wanted to have the newest version I could find. Paid about $650 for it, used. Haven't regretted it since, even though i don't use it nearly as often as I'd like. Part of that is it's just so damn cold still.

I'll tell you what though, this lens is a blast to use along with the K-x's movie mode. set it up on a tripod ziptied to my passenger seat, hit the shutter release and had some fun driving in the snow. Looked kinda like one of the views you'd get from the cockpit of a rally racing car.
