Found a couple more online personality tests. The first one tells me that I'm "liable to exhibit extreme emotions". Huh! That just makes me so angry!
Then the next one says I'm "likely to be susceptible to conspiracy theories". Hmm. You know what ... I beginning to think all these tests are some sort of governmental mind control.

Are you implying that the new Pentax half-frame is going to be “Da bomb”? :p
I am curious to see how they implement the specifics of how it works: shutter, viewfinder, focus and wind action (and the associated price) before I drop money on it.
I am finding the various half-frame experiments interesting as well and hope people keep them up (even if it needs to be in other threads…)

Hey, everybody, I think this thread is on a countdown to closure, as it has drifted waaaay off-topic. Back to Pentax half-frame or kiss it goodbye...

What does it say about Pentaxian hopes and dreams that an April Fools post about an imaginary K-3 full-frame digital camera has more views and more comments than the actual announcements of the real K-1 full frame and the real K-3 APS-C flagship? Is it just that we artistic types are dreamers by nature? Maybe the fake specs fit a real need? Or is this just the ultimate expression of Gear Acquisition Syndrome?

Hi folks
One of our members is using the D FA21/2.4 on their PZ-1p film camera, and is certain that it's controlling the diaphragm correctly and exposing correctly as a result (see this thread). [EDIT - the thread has since been deleted]
I'm confused, and to further my own understanding of the lens and its compatibility, I've politely asked the member for more information - i.e. looking to see if there's a diaphragm lever sticking out of the mount, and watching the diaphragm when a shot is taken to see if it stops down - but for some reason, and because I don't own the lens, my posts are being taken negatively (not at all my intention).... so I'm asking our wider membership - is the D FA21 a true KAF4 lens, or isn't it? If it is, how can the PZ-1p - or any pre-2013 Pentax camera, for that matter - possibly control the diaphragm on this lens? I'm stumped - it doesn't make any sense.
I'm asking this out of genuine interest and to learn something for myself, not to shoot down our fellow member. I've previously avoided buying the HD DA55-300 PLM precisely because it's a KAF4 lens and the diaphragm can't be controlled on my older bodies. Whilst I have no intention of buying the D FA21 in the short term, it would be good to know if it is indeed fully compatible - including aperture control - with older cameras. My K10D, GX-10 and K-5 would appreciate it too! :D
Can anyone shed any light on this? It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Do you? Really? I don't see the first post in this thread being in any way supportive of this conjecture. This sentence:
epitomises it. It is borderline brand bashing, which is looked at very dimly here.
If you like Pentax glass, buy the best Pentax body you can and enjoy the lenses to their fullest. Pentax, more than any other company in the history of photography, has bent over backwards to maintain backward compatibility with legacy lenses, so you most definitely do NOT need to feel guilty about buying second hand. I get the overwhelming feeling that Pentax values long term brand loyalty over short term sales, and I for one respect that.
If you don't, jump ship to whatever is shiny this week. What you choose to do is up to you, and you alone.

No sure how to do it, but you could go to Pentax website and fill a contact form with you post and asking how you can donate to save Pentax.

Whatever feelings of support I might have for Pentax as an organisation are on a purely abstract intellectual level. I'm fascinated by present-day Pentax as a case study of a company reimagining itself and working to create a new niche in a shrinking market. I hope it succeeds, because I think somebody somewhere is making clever decisions and I admire that.
But Pentax doesn't make a digital camera at the moment that I'd buy new, and nor does any other manufacturer. If any camera maker ever gets its act together and comes out with a CMOS camera that produces colours that I like then I might buy one, but until then I'll stick with my ancient CCDs.
The new half-frame film camera, though, is something that really does appeal to me and it's likely that I'll get one if the price is right. Not out of any feeling that I should be supporting Pentax, but simply because it's the sort of quirky, interesting product that appeals to me. If Pentax suddenly goes out of business then my only reaction will be a shrug, perhaps a sigh that it's a shame after all these years, and then not another thought about it.

I figure that buying used can lead to someone else buying a replacement new. I buy new when I can, used when the savings look good.

So me and two mates died and went to heaven , boss man says " come in , there's only one rule , don't step on the ducks or there will be consequences ." .., he opens the gate, and a beautiful paradise lies before us , but there's ducks everywhere ....
We go as carefully as we can , slowly walking forward . Mate no 1 stumbles and treads on a ducks foot . Boom , He's instantly chained to an extremely ugly woman . Voice says " This is now your eternal companion , I told you not to tread on the ducks ..."
Me and mate no 2 carry on exploring , going as careful as we can , after a couple of days I'm feeling a bit mischievous so I give him a little shove , just to unbalance him , he slips , steps on a ducks tail feather and boom , chained to an extremely ugly woman , voice says , "this is your eternal companion , I told you not to step on the ducks ."
I carry on exploring , being very careful where I tread , thinking to myself I'm doing really well , I have managed a whole month without stepping on any ducks , i wonder if there's a reward ... boom, I'm chained to a beautiful woman , simply the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen ..." Wow ," I said to her. "I wonder what I did to deserve you ... "
She looks at me and says "
I don't know about you , but I stepped on a duck ......"

A young woman found a bottle on a sandy beach. Upon wiping the sand off of it a Genie appeared and granted her three wishes.
The caveat was that her husband would get the same thing but 10 times more of it.
She asked to be the most beautiful woman in the world.
The Genie warned her that her husband would then be ten times more handsome, but she replied that they had true love and it wouldn't be a problem.
Next she said she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.
The Genie warned her that her husband would have 10 times the wealth but she replied that they had true love and what was his was also hers.
The Genie transformed her into a stunning beauty and her bank account suddenly had a lot more zeros in the balance.
The Genie said he would grant her one more wish so she wished for a mild heart attack.

My camera has a vertical frame orientation, but I want to shoot a horizontal shot. What on earth could be the solution?
If anyone can post the solution to this intractable problem, I'd be forever grateful.
Really . . .
