You will love your K1. I do. I normally shoot in AvTv mode with the ISO capped off at 64000. Youe will find that you can get away with much higher ISO in the K1 than the K10D. I also find that focus peaking in manual focus on the LED screen and catch in focus using the viewfinder are great when using old legacy film era lenses that are plentiful, cheap and often very good if yu can fin them without fungus and scratches. :)

You should always remember that being a professional only means that you do whatever it is for money. it does not automatically mean that you are good at it. The word "amateur" comes from "amour" and means that you do whatever it is for love. If you love something then you are quite likely to be good at it.

Most people who shoot with Pentax have either progressed from owning Pentax film cameras or have made a thoughtful and considered choice. These therefore tend to be more open-minded and thoughtful and considerate people. I love my Pentax cameras and lenses but I have no problem if other phtotgraphers love their Canons, Nikons, Sonys, Fugifilms, Olympus, Lumix or anything else. I also drive a Ssang Yong and use Apple computers, so maybe I'm just not a mainstream kind of person. :)

I have had much better results digitising folm using my Manfrotto tripod that has a horzintally extending arm, the K1ii with the 100mm 2.8 Macro WR, a Kenro light pad and Digitnow film and slide holders, than all the scanners that I have tried.

I use legacy film era lenses on my K3 and they actually perform better than they did on film cameras because the smaller image circle encloses the sweet spot in the centre of the lens where the image is sharpest and there is less CA. Incidentally not all film era lens work well on my full frame K1ii. The Pentax F 50-200mm vignettes horribly on the K1ii but is perfectly usable on the K3.

K1ii - Pentax-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR or Pentax 100mm Macro.
K3 - Tamron 17-50mm f2.8.

I have just checked using my K20D and SMC M 135mm f3.5 lens. In manual, I set the aperture on the aperture ring then press the green button. This sets the shutter speed. I take the picture and the shutter speed remains the same as set by the green button. No idea what is happening with your camera.

I used the video on the K3 once. It was OKish. Could not print the results. Never used it again.

I bought the K3 to replace the K20D because it was a quantum leap in performance. I kept the K20D and had it converted to infra-red. I still use it. Unless the new camera does exceptional things that the K3 does not do, I will not be buying one.

In our camera club there are three Pentax users including me. The majority are CaNikon shooters but we also have three Sony camera owners 2 Olympus and one lady who uses Fujifilm. We have 55 members.
