Zinnias have subtle colors. You've done a great job capturing that.

Just upgraded from K3 ii to K3 iii. I'm blown away. This is a huge upgrade. So much so that I have finally bitten the bullet and sold off all my full-frame Nikon DSLR gear. My initial settings with this new camera: capture RAW+JPEG, JPEGs use a high-contrast monochrome setting with one of several color filters assigned to custom user settings (see list below), typically for darker skies and lighter skin, shoot auto-bracketed -1, 0, +1, WiFi B&W JPEGs to my iPhone which then auto syncs to iCloud where I can share to friend and family immediately, while color RAWs are downloaded to my laptop’s external drive and processed in DxO PhotoLab5 using a custom preset. This is simply best DSLR I’ve ever used.
Custom user-settings:- U1 = high-contrast monochrome + red filter
- U2 = high-contrast monochrome + orange filter
- U3 = high-contrast monochrome + yellow filter
- U4 = high-contrast monochrome + green filter
- U5 = high-contrast monochrome + blue filter

New to RawTherapee. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to extract the four, raw files contained within a single pixel-shifted DNG/PEF. I don't initially want to process them merged together, but rather process them separately/individually using DXO PhotoLab 5 (which only processes the first image in the stack AFAIK). And I'd like to keep 'em RAW, not converted to TIFF or any other format. Is this doable?

I'm having fun experimenting with alternate projections. Two-row stitched panorama using Pentax 15mm Limited. Processed in DxO PL5. Stitched in Affinity Photo.

I've compiled a list of DxO-supported lenses for the Pentax K3 iii, formatted as an Excel spreadsheet. Over 100 lenses supported -- not too shabby. Enjoy!

Well call me surprised. At 18mm the lens is pretty damn sharp. And the DxO PhotoLab5 profile for my K3ii + Sigma 18-300mm lens fixes any distortions. So after a bit of fiddling I was able to determine the entrance pupil for this lens @ 18mm. I then set up a quick multi-level pano rig to test, being sure to have both close and long distance objects in the panorama. Without much fuss I arrived at this 90° image. Pretty much perfectly aligned and very easy to render using Affinity Photo.

I'll admit it. I'm a lens snob. But lately I've been trying to travel with just my iPhone as my camera and while it is quite good for what it is, ultimately such a setup doesn't cut it for me. I was toying with the idea of purchasing a "travel zoom" such as the Sony RX10 m4 but recently I scored a Sigma 18-300mm macro contemporary from B&H for $349. I also picked up the matching closeup filter on Amazon for $16. Both are mint condition. I figured I would give it a try on my old Pentax K3ii. So everything arrived today and I thought I try out the closeup capabilities, particularly at 300mm. Well, I'm more than pleased so far. I'll be doing some more tests soon but I think I have found my lightweight travel camera! Honestly, this might just push me to upgrade to a K3iii.
Note: images shot in RAW and processed in DXO PhotoLab5.

Not surprising given they shut down their online store a few months ago and now redirect you to their partners for fulfillment. As for their forum, it is clear nobody from the company actively manages it. I love my DxO One. I love DxO PhotoLab software. I hope they can get it together.

upon your review I also picked up one of these via Amazon (next day shipping for free). I can attest to everything stated in the review: this is a high-quality item. As a side note I own more than 6 table top tripods including: several versions (and clones) of the classic Leica Tabletop, GorillaPod, PlatyPod, UltraPod, Novoflex BasicBall, and both the big and small ProMaster Clamper. Seriously, I'm liking this Moman the best.

agree 100% -- Nikon (and Pentax too) need to transition to become software+hardware companies. This is a huge struggle for them. The only company in this regard who is "almost there" is Sony. The key is 3rd party apps (a la the iPhone). And that requires a robust set of developer APIs. IMHO, any camera manufacturer who doesn't excel at software won't be around in 5 years.

Well the prices are high for new Pentax lenses because of little competition and small market.
And the prices for rare Pentaxx lenses are high, well because.
OTOH, Nikon (and others) with its huge market is in trouble.
So which would you rather have to deal with (given the prices are effectively similar?)

Refurbed D500 for $1600US these days (very tempting actually).
Going to be tough for Pentax to launch something similar at a higher price point than that.

Long time DxO user here. Current version is v11. v9 is fairly long-in-the-tooth at this point. The ideal use of DxO Optics Pro is when you happen to own a lens+body combination that they support. If so, then it really is the best RAW converter. However, if you only have a supported body but not a supported lens, then while it is still a great RAW converter, some of its unique benefits go away vis a vis other RAW converter competition. If you are wondering what camera+lenses are supported look here first: Supported cameras | DxO.com
Michael ---------- Post added 02-12-17 at 04:31 PM ---------- FWIW, I've stopped using Photoshop after 25+ years and now only use Affinity Photo as my post-processing tool. I still pre-process all images in DxO first.

No doubt you can use a smaller diopter than the lens filter size. I used to use a Canon 500 58mm on a 72mm Nikon 180mm f.2.8 with great results. Here is another way I use the Marumi: |

I have two Marumi DHG Achromat close up filters: 330/67mm for my K-3ii lenses and 200/52mm for my Nikon Coolpix A. Worth waiting for in my opinion. I purchased one on eBay and the other on Amazon, setting up filters that alert me when one comes available in a specific size. You will likely have to wait for a few months...

Fortunately, the Samyang 14mm + good lens profile is a proven winner for even architectural shots.
