Hi Mark,
I can hardly judge image quality in corners with downscaled samples. May I ask you to share link to RAW files?

Hello Mark,
Could you please share few full sized pics to ensure this Irix does not suffer from well-known for this lens central axis asymmetry?
Thanks.

Kind regards, Oleg

Around 3 years ago there was discussion on Russian forum penta-club.ru about ordering K-mount version of Helios 40-2 (85/1.5) from KMZ. The following information was collected:
1. [Official] No problem for KMZ to make K-mount version. There is already a prototype and they were and are producing lens with K-mount. Moreover all produced lens of same type are equal to each other except tail part which changes depending on mount type.
2. [Official] To make K-mount version for the price of Canon or Nikon version, KMZ have to produce at least 50 lens. So, KMZ asked penta-club community to find enough people ready to invest into minimal series.
3. [Insider] Quality is expected to be good though there might be some bad samples (2-3 per 100).
4. [Investigation] Lens are really made in Russia not China.
Community was unable to find enough people to order 50 lens therefore this Helios 40-2 club "activity" stuck at late 2012.

For me DA15 has a kind of polarizer effect, i.e. shots have deep blue sky after processing. Besides this, smaller size and a bit better bokeh, it doesn't differ from DA12-24/4 IMHO.
P.S. I am not that big fan of star effect it produce on long exposures for light sources.

I have both lens and fully agree with Sandy's opinion. DA15 knows only one trick but does it well. My voice goes for FA31!

I agree: this 3D feeling come from original BW shot made with large format camera.

Sony provide Pentax with their standard CMOS matrix, i.e. they do not perform its R&D per Pentax specs. However the sensor sandwich (matrix + AA/color filter) is made by Sony at its factories according to the Pentax requirements. Last K-5/3 Pentax cameras use Pentax home developed primary color filter.

I think it would be easier to check dxomark.com for camera sensors rating. Canon sensors are not winners today :p

There were many talks everywhere and most concluded it's Sony in K3 :-)

This will not help to reduce camera size unless Ricoh decide to move with new bayonet but it doesn't look they would. Thus there are not so many benefits to move 645D to mirrorless world. Instead they can make long time mirror lock function to let camera act like any mirrorless.
