Well I have finally made the decision on a new lens. I purchased the Pentax HD PENTAX D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 ED DC AW. It will be here the day that I leave for a football game so there won't be much time for me to practice with this lens. Any suggestions on what setting I should use to shoot the football game. I will be close to the sidelines and it will be dark. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be shooting with my Pentax K5iis.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I am leaning on getting a new lens for now. I am looking at the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8. Has anyone bought a used lens off the KEH Camera website? Or any other suggestions on where to buy a used lens?

I am looking to upgrade my lens. Mostly for football (outdoor mostly night games low lighting) / basketball (indoor). I currently have a Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 lens. I would like something a little faster and more zoom.
Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions on what lens would be the best.

That is what I am finding out. I wanted a different camera that was more automatic but in doing some research I learned by camera is better than what I was going to buy. In just 1 day of sitting down for 30 minutes I have figured out a lot. Now just to take more practice pictures and notes and I think I can get better quality pictures. Thanks for the input.

I have had my k5iis for a long time. I was just shooting and not really figuring out how to get the best pictures. After doing some internet searching and reading the manual I have got some things figured out. Now I am wondering if there is any online classes directed specifically at Pentax camera's. I think my camera can do great things but I am really below the learning curve on a lot of things.

It was happening after a single shot or burst shot. I did a factor reset and now it is working great. thanks for all the replies.

It is a K5 iis. I had been messing with some settings the other night and must of changed something that I didn't realize. I did a factory reset and now it is good to go.

This orange light lights up on the back of my camera and then I can't go to the replay mode to see my pictures. It is like it freezes my camera. Any suggestions

Just thought I would let anyone know who has followed this thread that I LOVE my new K5IIs. I don't see me upgrading for a long time. Only one question for others who own this camera...My pictures files are so large when I download them that I can't email or burn them to a disk...any suggestions?

I am looking at upgrading from a K10 to a K5II or K5IIs. The current lens I have are a Tamron AF 18-200 F/3.5 - 6.3 Di II LD and a Pentax 18-55 (SMC Pantax DA) 1:3.5-5.6. I was looking at getting a body only but can anyone tell me if these lenses will work with the newer cameras or if I need new lenses as well. Also, anyone have a favorite lens for shooting sports pictures?

OK so after some more research I am looking at the K5II or the K5IIs. Anyone out there have any suggestions on which one would be better for shooting sports shots? At this time I think the K3 is a little out of the price range for me. Thanks for any ideas.

I currently have a Pentax K10. I am looking at getting a new camera and have been researching the K-5. I shoot a lot of sports (football, soccar, basketball & wrestling). The indoor pictures I take in the gyms are usually low lighting and even the night football games. Can anyone out there tell me if the K-5 would be a good upgrade for me. I am also looking to get a good lens for sports can someone give me some ideas on that as well.
