Took a few of my tree today. I always find the tree lighting so nice and warm. All taken with K-70 and a Sears Auto 50mm f1.7 manual.

Just wanted to share a follow up on this. I contacted the seller and expressed my concerns. The seller agreed to either take the camera back or they would provide a certified, third party 3 year warranty. I accepted their offer of a 3 year warranty provided by CPS. Kudos to them for stepping up to resolve the situation.

I guess it was gray market. I bought through Amazon and it was listed as Prime shipping. After reviewing the order, I see it was a third party seller.

There was no card in the box with a serial number. The EXIF data did have a 7 digit serial number starting with 729 and that is in the range of the numbers in the database. For some reason, it is not on the bottom of the camera. Also shutter count is 2. So it appears to be new since I took 2 photos.

Just received a K-70 that I ordered from Amazon. I noticed the serial number looks different. It is only 6 characters long instead of 7. Has anyone seen this before? My K-50 is 7 digits. Also noticed that the sticker for the serial number on the K-50 and the one picture I could find of a K-70 is gray. The one on this example is black.

I would love a red K-50. Thanks for the opportunity.

What I found interesting was that the DA 50-200 lens that does have the data contacts does not exhibit the same problem.

I would like to add some observations. My K-50 recently had the mirror issue happen while on a trip to the mountains of Colorado. What I found was that it seemed to only happen when I was using the included 18-55 kit lens. If I pulled the battery and swapped to my A series 24mm lens or my DL 50-200 lens, the issue would not happen. Switch back to the 18-55 kit lens and within three shots, the mirror would not return to normal position and the camera software would freeze up. This seems to indicate it is an issue with the lens. I am sending camera and lens to Precision for warranty repair. Will post back when I hear something from them.

Had this exact thing happen with my brand new K-50. I suspect it is the aftermarket battery I was using. Only happened with that battery and never with the OEM that came with camera.

Hello from Bartlett, TN. I have become interested in better photography than my Canon point and shoot can deliver. I am specifically interested in photographing landscapes, nighttime scenes/sky, and my kids. Just learning the ins and outs right now. Have a new K-50 with the 18-55 kit lens from BH Photo and also purchased a 50-200 lens used. Looking at getting a 50mm f/1.7 lens for the nighttime stuff and whatever else I can find it useful for.
