Thanks guys
Its the folder for that date is that is showing as black on the camera, so won't open it. On the PC it doesn't even show the folder.
I've just tried the PhotoRec tool but without success, looks a good tool though.
Blog was interesting, I'm no pro and the K70 is single slot, my wife is still a bit upset.....
Card is quite new, 2nd or 3rd use, but will probably relegate it to music in the car.......
Could changing lenses with the camera still on affect it? I usually turn it off the change a lens, but I don't think I did that day, as I was in a hurry. I would usually have my K30 set up , but I was using that to video with ......

Hi
I've had K-m K-r K30 and K70 over 15 years and probably 250 000 releases, and had no issues with the SD cards until last week......On the K70 which I've had a couple of years, I took probably 100 at an event for my wife, reviewed various files during the day, changed lenses a couple of times, which I sometimes do, all without issue as usual. However when I got home the photos of the day were missing, other ones on the card, from previous days, were fine. There was a folder for the day but it was just black on the camera and empty on the PC.
I have scanned the card with a couple of recovery software and found nothing.
I have used the card since in the same camera and my K30, and it has been fine.
Any idea what could have caused this data loss...... so I know what not to do!
Thanks
Mike

I've not looked for while, and they are forever updating!
I like a separate keyboard for proper email work etc. so I travel with the Asus in the bag and phone in pocket! Also as it has full size USB and 2 card slots it has proved very useful for transfer of pictures while out.

I have a 10" Asus Transformer, the screen is better than my eyes! Its great for browsing as a tablet and is better for typing with the keyboard attached. It has Micro SD slot (up to 32Gb) Standard USB, and full size SD and Micro HDMI out too.Oh, and a second battery in the keyboard! I can watch a movie from it in full HD on any modern TV.
Love mine!
Speakers are poor but I use in earsphones.
I also use a Samsung S4 Mini which I can attach wi-fi or by cable to the Asus and use its 4G mobile capabiliy.
My wife has a 10" iPad with built in mobile access (not sure if its 3 or 4G), but it has no external ports and she had to get a keyboard separately to be able to answer all the emails she gets (its main function) AND shes stuck with Apple!
She uses iPhones for company and personal use, but couldn't get on with a MacBook Pro.
Jist - if you use type much, or want multifunctionality dont get the iPad

K-x replacement?

Hi I started with a Km -50000 shutter releases - then went to a Kr, 40000 and counting and love them. I use the kit lenses and have only just had any problems with focus recently, but I think this is due to wearing out my favourite 55-300!
I take mainly motor sport and have had many published.
I usually manage 500 on a Pentax battery charge, a little less with the cheap rechargeable packs and more with AA Energizer Lithium Ultimate s.
This dual battery option is one reason I went for Pentax.
Sorry you have had problems with your Kx, but it does seem to be that it's a dud example.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
That snap has approx 250 cars, average value say £25k approx £6.25M......
Seen a Ferrari worth more!
But seriously, there were a lot of nice cars there, and I had the privilege of being quite near the front, in amongst some very nice cars.

Sure is!
As far as I can tell every one in that photo is a Porsche. Later in the day we had 1208 911s of every vintage on the Silverstone circuit at one time, all to mark the 50th anniversary of the 911.

Hi All

Im Mike, had cameras all my 50+ years, from a box with a lever to push across, through Kodak Instamatics, and 35mm Compacts to my favourite Pentax 110 Auto SLR cameras. I got the first of those in approx 1980 and only swapped to digital as the 110 Cartridge films were getting very difficult to find in 100 ASA - 200 or 400 were just too grainy with 11x17mm negatives!

Then came my first digital ,a Fuji Bridge 3.2 mp, which my 90 year old father still uses.

I got back into cars and photographing them about 2009 and my wife bought me a K-m with the bundled 18-55 and 50-200 DAL's soon supplemented with the 55-300 DAL.

Since then I have had the chance to have a long service award from work- the K-r - and as the K-m has done LOTS of work (over 50K smaps!) my wife has just got me a K30 to replace it.

I am lucky in that I live quite close to Donington Park and Silverstone motor racing circuits and am an enthusiastic member of the Porsche Club of GB, so regular opportunities for exercising my hobbies together exist!

I dont really take pictures for profit, just my own and my friends pleasure, but I have had many published in Porsche publications, including several front covers of the Porsche Club GB monthly magazine (150 page full colour professionally produced etc).

One or two shown below - these are just reduced down to less than 0.5mb jpegs for Photobucket and are not Photoshopped in any way - I cant use it!

I am hoping to get some more lenses and as I am taking advantage of the reviews on here, I thought I'd better sign up!

Thanks for reading and providing lots of answers already, sure there will be more......

Mike Pollock
