Hi again to all those who helped me, really appreciated. Well I received my new 55-300 PLM updated the firmware on my K-50 and bingo.
Works like a champ. I put my camera mode to P and went to town and I got some really good test pics.
I do have a question, when camera is in P and I adjust my aperture to say f11 I take the pic and it looks great, exif shows f11. Can I manually shoot by just choosing my aperture speed on the control wheel and I am shooting Manual mode?
Also when I adjust the zoom to say 300mm and then pick say 200 on the control ring on the lens I don't hear the zoom motor, is this unusual?
I only have 2501 clicks on my K-50 and thanks to all you guys I can really enjoy my camera now.

Thanks Metal Undivided
I am very happy to hear the 55-300 PLM will indeed work with the K-50 which I have with the solenoid problem and will still work OK.
Thank to all for your comments, I only need absolute confirmation that the 55-300PLM will indeed work on my K-50 with the solenoid problem.

I am shooting with m42 lenses and the solonoid problem for my K-50 doesn't matter but I want
to start using Pentax lenses like the HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm f/4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE Lens so now I may have a problem
with the K-70? How many incidents have ocured with the K-70 with solonoid problems.
Would it be OK for me to get the K-70 and feel reasonably assured that the solonoid won't fail.
The KP price is too steep for me.
I appreciate all the help in advance.

Hi guys,
Are there and focus speed difference between the KP vs the K-70 if I only use m42 lenses? I
do not want to spend more for a camera that will not show faster focus for me.
Any comments are appreciated.

Hi Dembol,
That is a very nice B&W. Your subject pops out and I really like that. How does you 44-4 perform for you? Your observations are appreciated.
I have a 44-6 which is very nice but I have read that the 44-4 is really good.
Cheers,
Gavin

Thanks a lot guys as some sound advice here.
I shoot only MF so yes the Katz eye will probably help me a lot. It might be a hassle to switch them out so Ill keep the one with the 12,000 clicks.
Thanks a lot for the help.:)

Hi all,
I have a small problem and I hope you all can be of some help to me.
I have a pristene K-10 with just over 2000 accuations on it but I just got another K-10 in excellent condition with 12,000 accuations on it.
the new one also has a Katz-Eye split prisim in it and I have old eyes. I will be giving one of them to my Daughter in Law soon so my question
is: Which one should I keep. They both produce excellent photos.
Thanks in advance,
Gavin

Oh my goodness,
Very well done indeed. Once again the colors produced by the K-10 can't be beaten. I have had a lot of DSLR's including my latest K-50 and
the K-10 beats them all colorwise. Good job

Gavin:)

Yes, with a very low shutter count and in very good shape with the lens it is definately worth it.
I bought mine a couple of months ago with 1755 clicks for $185.00, no lens though
Of all the cameras I have ever owned, I definately like the 10D the best because of its beautiful color and very good IQ. I also have a Pentax K-50 and it is a very good camera and very easy to use with legacy lenses. The color is excellent but not in the same class as the K-10. The K-50 is a little easier to use. I also have a Sigma SD-9 which will definately give the K-10 a good run for the money color wise. Unlike the Pentax systems it is very difficult to use with legacy lenses, althouch many owners have produced stunning photos with this camera, maybe it's me LOL See the attached pic for the SD-9 pic. If you are interested in legacy lenses, I would suggest that there are a lot of people more than willing to help so you make good sound purchasing decisions. In most cases a good legacy prime lens will be right up there with modern lenses while giving you a bonus of that wonderful rendering of images. There are some good Zoom lenses as well. Hope this helps.

Gavin

Ray and Tom,
Beautiful images for sure. That K-10 is very special isn't it.
I prefer mine over my K-50. Different colors from the K-10.
Although the K-10 is a little harder to use, one you can get the jist of it the K-10 can't be beaten in my opinion.
I got mine because of the inspiration i got by viewing Tom's pictures. I'll try to put up a set when I get a chance.

Gavin

As usual Tom you produce the greatest pics on the K-10D. That camera produces the best color reproduction of all the cameras I have seen,
I just purchased a K-10 to augment my K-50 and guess what, I prefer to use the K-10.

Gavin
