Hi,
I received notice that the HD 55-300 had shipped (and am now awaiting receipt), but when I checked my AMEX card, it showed a charge for the regular price ($462.90). I called, talked to customer service, and was told that they had a glitch in their system, where if you checked on the status of your order while waiting for it to be shipped, it defaulted into the existing price. She checked the order online and indicated that they would post me a credit for the difference (approximately $192.00, I believe).

Well, we will see. I picked up a whole bunch of teleconverters, at what appeared to be good prices after the 50% discount (e.g.from $28.00 for the Vivitar AF 1.4x to $183.50 for the Pentax-F 1.4x AF), All rated Excellent, Excellent Plus, or Like New Minus).

Is this item not available directly from Pentax's website for $268.00 (including S&H)? I have one from them on order.

I note that Adorama has the same deal on the 60-250mm, with free shipping and 4% rewards, but including a 3 year drop & spill warranty from New Leaf, which B&H does not. B&H offers a 3 year warranty through Square Trade for $186.00, whereas the price Adorama charges for the New Leaf warranty is $50.00, so I assume that the Square Leaf warranty is significantly better. Still.

I had purchased 3 at the original price of $8.00, with $7.00 combined shipping. They arrived yesterday, and while I think they are a bit small for my purposes, they seem very well made . I will probably give a couple away as gifts to nephews, and keep one for light use. They are still a great deal at that price, and have a lot of nice detailing and seem to be well constructed.

Well, at that price, I got them for gifts for nephews - ordered 3. I can always get the monies refunded through eBay if they don't show up. By the way, even though they are in Illinois, they charged California sales tax - which I guess they technically could do. On the other hand, the shipping ($7.00) was the same for 3 as for one.

Well, I have no dog in this fight, since I did not order the deal. However, I have the following thoughts (speaking as a lawyer, albeit not one practicing in New York).
1. The "damages" each purchaser has suffered would presumably be less than $500.00 each. That would typically mean small claims court proceedings, or its equivalent. How many people would bother to do anything over that amount? Not many. Of course, the costs of filing such an action are pretty low as well, and you typically don't need an attorney, but can represent yourself. Conversely, for someone who does file, in whatever state (despite forum selection clauses), it is hardly worthy Adorama's time to fight it either, since the attorney fees/cost of defense would exceed the amount at issue as well.
2. I wonder how the people who paid via PayPal fit into the terms and conditions? The money would have actually transferred to/been accepted by Adorama's account. Would that not be a "completed transaction" - despite any refund later provided?
3. It probably would be wise to keep things in a larger perspective Adorama, B&H and the like do offer very good deals which are not generally available elsewhere. If a clear pricing error is made which cuts into the profits, then there will be an impact later on and elsewhere, adverse to potential consumers. Is that really in anyone's interests? Of course, if this happens frequently, then the real damage would be to Adorama's reputation and good will.
Just some random thoughts.

Well, we will see, as I just pressed "Buy It Now", and PayPal has indicated I cannot pay until I get the shipping cost from the seller, so I sent the email requested through them.
I noted that when I clicked on the link above, it took me to the eBay.ca site, which did not, as best I could tell, have the eBay "Money Back Guarantee". So, I copied the eBay #, searched for it on the U.S. eBay site, and it came up with the money back guarantee, so I bought it (I think). Hopefully, this will provide protection in case it is defective or does not arrive.

I purchased one of the Rokinon lenses from this seller (35/1.4) as well a from a seller called OneSaleADay, LLC (16/2.0), both for $299.00, and both advertized as new. Both came in a fairly cheap box (albeit the Rokinon box), which appeared to have everything in it, but was not sealed. Does anyone know if that is the way Rokinon sells them (i.e. no sealing tape or wrap)?

Adorama does have free shipping, as long as you select the slower shipping option, and if you are in California at least, no sales tax.

I purchased a Pentax K-3 from B&H, coupled with the DA 18-135 WR Lens and a discounted DA 35/2.4 lens, as well as the free Grip, DA 1.8 lens & 32GB Extreme Sandisk Card. Engaged in the meaningless exercise of subtracting from the total price the cost of purchasing each of the other elements at B&H's listed price, I arrived at an imputed K-3 body price of $680.00 or so (around $600.00 off of the $1296 "list price"). Just for fun, I performed the same exercise for each of the Adorama deals (using B&H for the price of the lenses, sling and warranty). Under that analysis, the imputed price of the K-3 body comes to $635.00, $740.00, $838, $888 and $888, respectively. Of course, this is a grossly simplistic way of looking at it, but it would tend to suggest that the Adorama deal is not particularly better than the prior B&H deal (without the discounted added 35/2.4 it would have been an imputed price of $720.00), excepting only in one instance.

It looks like the deal is still in play, for the K-3, w/18-135 WR lens, which is the one I purchased. That is B&H # PEK3K. The combination (PEK3Z), also shows in stock, albeit without the grip. The grip shows that it is "Back Ordered".

Well, I pulled the trigger on this one. Got the Pentax K-3 w/18-135 lens kit, which included the DA 50/1.8, the BG-5 battery kit, and the 32GB SDHC card. Also purchased the DA 35/2.4 lens at the same time, getting another $35.00 off, for a total of $146.50 with that, as well, of course, as the Pentax extended warranty (2 years). I know you can't calculate it this way, but adjusting for fun, and subtracting the B&H prices for the lenses, the grip and the warranty and guessing about the value the memory card ($20-$25?), the price for the K-3 body ends up around $685.00. I also used my Costco AMEX card, which means I get another $18.00 bucks back at the end of the day, so it seems like a good deal to me.

Hello all: I have a Pentax K-5, and am looking forward to getting involved in photography. I just registered, and it asked for an introductory hello - so here it is. Now I just have to curb my purchasing mania for lenses (don't ask - I got hooked on eBay purchases of the cheap legacy stuff in bulk, and have far more than I can ever use, and now want to concentrate on the quality stuff).
