I give you a few sunset shots from today. I really do need a better wide angle lens than my old 1977 sigma 18mm F2.8 filtermatic. not to be rude, it works but the resolution just isn't there, and corner sharpness is close to nonexistent. But who cares about that when you have views like this? |

I have some serious decisionmaking to do in about two hours, go to bed with the wife, or stay up and shoot a few more shots... And no, the combination is out of the question! :) |

Lets start at the widest end. that would be an old sigma 18mm from the seventies.
after that would be the K24mm
and the FA*28-70
A few from the D-FA 100mm Macro
Well, to be honest this is the widest lens... but it's a fisheye so it does not count... Zenitar 16mm
I've not had time to test my K200mm F2.5 yet, or any of my other longer lenses.

First off a shot with the Zenitar 16mm F2.8 fisheye
And two with the Pentax D FA 100mm Macro WR |

I give you 6 stops here... 100% is available at flickr. I'm stunned... or well I am rather shaky... that's why I am impressed... :D Taken with the old Tokina 28-70mm F2.6 -2.8 (first version(or as it is also called, good version))
to clarify, taken at 70mm 1 second exposure. yes there is some blur, but it is totally usable! |

Weeeeeeeehoooo, now we need kenspo to spill the rest of the beans! At these prices im getting a body and the 15-30 as soon as they are available to preorder here in Sweden! I guess many more with me are feeling the same thing $1800 is fantastic! way to go RICOH! Thats right, I said it, RICOH! I think this camera deserves a RICOH badge on it, Without them we would never get this camera!!! And people complain about they printing their name on the body... I love RICOH, right now I think I would marry RICOH if I could...
And I almost forgot
Pentax is doomed!

For me it is basically the knowledge that you made that picture. When you have aperture coupling, auto focus, shooting in AV mode and automatic white balance I feel that I'm not in charge. I'm just a slave to the camera, think terminator!
At the same time I recognize the pros of having all of the above and I'm using it. I love my fa, da, d fa and whatnot lenses but when I really want to feel artsy I slap on a manual lens and set everything manually. The feeling you have when focusing a high quality manual lens can never be had with an AF lens, some come close but it's not quite the same.

I've gotten one step ahead of you so I have her blessing to buy it, with her mumbling $1500 down the drain...
I've said "it does not cost quite that much" each time but somehow she never gets the other part of the sentance "... It costs a lot more".

seriously kenspo is here as you or me. He just happens to be someone with information. People here abuse him verbally quite bad, he has been told to leave, that he gives false information, that he is a troll, that he knows nothing, but he remains and he feeds us with tidbits of information whenever he can. II admire his patience. I would have given up a long time ago and never turn around. And remember, this is a forum, people here tend to say things they would never do face to face. and if someone told me the things they have told kenspo face to face, they should concider themselves lucky if all I did was tell them to go away using harsh words.
I'm on your side, thanks for having the patience you have, you have small children, right? :D

You know, this reminds me of when charlie sheen came out with being HIV positive and the Internet flooded with
"Stay positive charlie"
See, the Internet can be humane and caring at times...

Haha! Hat of to you! But watch out, You seem wise, you are online, and you are answering silly forum polls...
And for myself... I guess this just shows what I've always known in my heart... I'm a 60 year old lesbian lady caught in a 30 year old mans body.
I often get the question of my "real" age when I say that I like flyfishing, whisky, photography and woodworking.
My gender when I say that I like gardening and interior decorating.

That is as insulting as saying "I thought anyone above 50 still tried to figure out how to "get on the line" and "surf the digital bulletin boards" and once there be overwhelmed with questions like "what internet is this?" And have tye very best of good fortune "It says here that I am the millionth visitor and I won a prize!" but maybe I was wrong"

I will offer my own answer to this, totally unasked and without shame... From my point of view, why does the photo have to represent what the eyes saw? Why not how it felt, as in what emotions did it trigger in the photographer. Or perhaps what did the photographer think? Or what does the photographer want to convey? Narrowing it down to just eyes makes it a dull world, allow your other senses to go through the same sensation as the photographer did aswell!

This is a painting!
Done entirely in Lightroom with just abuse of the highlight, shadows, whites, blacks, clarity, sharpening and noise reduction.
Here is a small 100% crop, because the effect really needs a 100% crop to be clearly visible Attachment 284719 |

I got that Tamron Adaptall lens, what was your concustion after a month with it? I've only tried it a few times since it has some serious competition in that focal range...
If only the world was run by C students, and by that I mean students programming in the programming language named C, everything would be so logical! :D
I will enjoy seeing all your DA15 images, it is a killer lens! But since I don't own one myself I will give you another treat! :D

i don't remember who commented that they preferred the K 24mm on film, but from these days with it I am starting to really, REALLY enjoy it on digital, it is super sharp when you need it to be, or gentle and warm when the scene calls for it.
