I got the k-50 and used it with the wr 18-55 kit lens in a family vacation and it rained nonstop for 3 out of the 12 days. We tented 2 of the rainy nights. No problems with the camera or lens. I forgot my camera strap and started a 6 hour hike that ended up raining for 4 hours. Got a few good shots by a waterfall and we got soaked. The entire hike was fun and I never felt like I was going to drop the camera or anything. I think this is a good testament to the form of the body as it was just natural for me to hold it. The only thing with the wr is that I was to scared to change lens when the weather was wet. Hope this helped. I love that camera so far. Just with I would have shot the vacation in raw+ because we had trouble downloading photos on our trip. I guess that was my beginners mistake

I have been following this thread for a while now. I am wondering if anyone has used the tameron 12-24 and would like their feed back. They are the same price around my neck if the woods. The cam parisons appear to be close but the sigma has this thread and that is amazing to me in itself. I have a tameron 28-300 and think its a very good useful lens for its purposes. Is ther really a diffrence for an armature like me ? I'm not loyal to a perticulat brand but I was hoping pentax had a lens close to the 10-20 but the reviews didn't seem that good for the pentax and it's not WR anyway. Ps the WR is a large part of why I went with pentax in the first place. Anyone had experience with both? Or advice

I picked up a tameron 28-300 for family vacation in the mountains. Used it in k-50 almost perfect for travel all in ine lens. I got it used and was almost affordable . It might have slight vingeting but I'm new and it's still way better than the point and shoot cameras I have used on family vacations in the past

I am so frustrated. I think I really want the sigma 10-20 older version, or possibly he tameron that to me appears almost identical depending what is on sale. But I can't help but want the wr like I have with my pentax lens. From what I understand the range 10-2mm is really sigmas thing with tameron giving them a good run of their money. But neither is wr. From the reviews is appears the pentax are not even close to the sigma. I live the sigma 10-20 club thread and their photos. Part of me thinks this lens must be good if there is a 215 page thread about people who love this lens. It doesn't appeare that any of the other lens have that kind of following. But it's not waterproof... I don't have a late budget and right now the sigma is on sale. Some realistic advise for a guy who is starting out, likes the feel of bothe sigma and tameron but probably prefers the sigma and yet fears the fact they are not wr. Ps it appears that pentax is not only a little behind in this mm range but the ones in this range appeare to be more expensive, way more expensive. Any suggestions , and if not the sigma 10-20 what else is close and wr. Any advise would be appreciated.

Why not the Tamron 10-24 or sigma 10-20..... I think both have scored significantly better in reviews .... There is even a sigma 10-20 section with this very forum.

I'm learning and like everything I have learnt about my camera lenses ect. So fare I have only taken photos and printed a free freckle from the chip to printer... My photos are just downloaded into I-photo. The basic one that is free in apple computers. I am not a computer guy and need something simple. I do t even know how to change a photo from raw to JPEG ...,,, anyway should I just keep trying to learn on I-photo as it is free yet limited, or should I look into Lightroom. Ps Lightroom scared me a bit as I have heard it's going to become even more price with all my photos going I it I cloud and amp thy fee for Lightroom in the future. I'm not a pro just a dad who want to keep things organized and print small stuff off on a ho photo smart e printer. Thanks for the input but please remember to keep advise and computer stuff simple please. KISS
Pd I have a k-50, 18-55 kit lens wr . Older pentax 50 prime and a use tameron 28-300 general holiday lense but in the future want the sigma 10-20

Hi. I would crime d the k-50. It's my first and I am new but like the wr in it and I am finding it fairly used friendly considering it's my first good camera let alone a dslr. So far no issues . And I like the k-50 because if the capability to use the new chip that transfer wirelessly ......, otherwise most people tell me th k-30 is about the same for few buck less . I like my k-50.

I just started with a k 50 and love it and just bought a used tameron 28-300 .... The lens works great with it. I used it to photograph my 2daughters track meet and it was great using all the zoom from close at the finish line 15 feet away to where she passed the baton 200m away.

I didn't get a hood for my kit lens.... I would like one. Does b&h sell a white one? If not I could get a black one one but a white one would be preferred. And ya I would be one of those guys who would use a filter and a hood, I think. As fare as buying a filter for the tameron 62mm I think , is there one you would recommend specifically over a Hoya uv pro 1 at 62$ from my local camera shop ?

I have bought a Hoya filter for my kit lens that I got on sale for 26 bucks. It was regularly 50 and on sale at London drugs. I compared and don't thing it has negatively effected my 18-55 kit lens and to me $26 is insurance on my kit lens. I have bought a tameron 28-300di that is obviously worth more than my kit lens. I got it used for $225 but as far as I can see its worth $450 and up. If I wreck it I have to buy the lens new at $550-625, where I live. Is spending $62 on a uv filter, as it's main purpos is pece of mind, too much $? I have researched and think Hoya uv pro as the best for the money in my area. Or am I overthinking all this.
It should be noted I have a boat, cabin, family vacations on trails and kids that are active so yrs I do feel I need the piece of mind in a uv filter.
Ps it's on a k50

I agree.. I'm few to all this and wanted the 18-135 wr thinking I would use it as an all purpose lense till I could affor a good 55-300wr for longer range. I did buy the tameron 28-300 and love it. I bought it because I found it used and in good shape . I still want the 55-300 wr but since I found a good tameron the lens is my all purpos lens in the mean time and I learning with it. Is she starting try used lens to save a buck and confirm what she wants and likes. Ps I also have the k50
