After Shooting Kodachrome C41 films and Black and white, I shoot now exclusively B and W whith my MZ5N, LX and MX bodys. I shoot in medium format too whith 2 Rolleiflex a Bronica and 4*5 whith a Speed graphic. I use my K3 mainly for "souvenirs" and familly pictures. I like making photos on silver papers in my darkroom.

I agree with Ishpuini 85mm is slightly long for portrait. The best would be something like a 60mm f1.4 which does no exist. In the argentic age the portrait lenses were between 85 and 105mm even 120. equivalent to 55-80 in APS. In fact there is no equivalence. For example if a picture is taken at a distance of 1.5 meters on a 24*36 format with a 75mm lens, 1.5 meters is 20 focal lenght. the same picture taken with an APS at 1.5 meters with a 50 mm lens is 30 focal lenght resulting in a wider depth of field. the depth of field is not the same neigther the bokeh. We can not have together the same view point and the same depth of field on a 24*36 and an APS format. If you like bokeh and shorter depth of field then go to long focal lenght like 70 or 85mm. If you prefer depth of field and beeing closer to the model 50mm is a good choice.

If you are looking for the best I suggest The Zeiss 50mm 1.4. I have the Pentax 50 1.4, the 43mm 1.9 ltd, the zeiss 50 1.4 and in my opinion zeiss is better by far. Infortunatly it is not currently produced. I found mine last week on Ebay. I also have the 85mm f1.4, 28mm f2 and 50mm f1.4 from zeiss, all outstanding lenses. you can see the difference even on a monitor. in second place I rank the 43mm 1.9 it's a good lens, autofocus and half the zeiss weight (200g against 400g). When i'm going to buy a lens I dont care whith the evaluations from professionals I go on pixel-peeper to make my opinion myself.

Hello all
The white balance of my new K3 (700 pictures taken) switch sometime on foolish setting: flash or fluorescent light on pictures taken in outdoor situation even if the white bal. is set on 5000K. or auto.
I never had this problem previously with my K20. Does somebody experiment this problem?
Have a good day
