I have a few Pentax digital cameras: K-3iii, K-3ii, K-3, K-1 ii, and my original K-X which was returned to me by my daughter this week to hold onto. So I decided to get reconnected with it. I found that some of my newer lenses don't work with it well, and I have updated its firmware. I tried the Pentax DFA* 50mm 1.4. The kit lens works fine.

I have both cameras and use them in tandem often. To tell which is which the 28mm one has a Peak Design connector on it. When doing general street photography I reach for the 28. I just got back from a few days in NYC. Having both freed me up from carrying the dslr, but I did have some days when I had all three going.

Pentax MX in the 70s when stationed in Italy in the air force. 50mm 1.4, 135mm and 28mm. Went digital because of that.

Good shots! I'm so impressed with the PLM auto focus with the K3iii and your photos show that.
I don't know how the other lenses will work with movement, for I've not tried them yet. It's an amazing camera.

My GRiii overheated yesterday which I noticed with a red thermometer on the info screen, and also a card writing problem. The camera itself didn't feel that warm nor the battery.. I swapped out the battery and reseated the memory card. Not sure what was going on.

I see what I did! I put the update file in card slot 2 vs 1 (I was in k3iii mindset where the card slots are reversed), and surprisingly the prior update was still on the card in slot 1.

I see on the Ricoh site there's an update for the new 16-50mm PLM lens, from 1.11 to 1.12. When I download it, it only is 1.11. Has anyone else experienced a problem with that? I was able to update the firmware in my K3iii and K1ii. It appears Ricoh didn't upload the right firmware update? I went ahead and processed it but the camera still shows 1.11.

I'm not really good as using the Pentax for movies (K3, K3ii, K1, and K3iii)...but now I'm having to more and more. So I am using the K3iii with the 55-300PLM and was pleased pretty much with the AFC auto focus. Is that the only lens so far that does AFC? Also, I'm having a difficult time even knowing how to set up the camera parameters, such as which mode to use, ISO, and things like that.

I just updated my firmware but at first it wasn't working and thought something was wrong with the camera. Then I saw that with this camera, unlike the K1, and other K3's the positioning of the memory cards are reversed. Slot one in the K3 iii is where #2 is in the other cameras. :-)

I set mine to grip first, then to auto. Normally with the other cameras I kept it on grip and would monitor usage so I'd only have to periodically remove the grip to change the body battery. But now with being able to charge in the camera, that isn't as important unless away from a convenient way to charge. It's pretty handy though.

I've not done much with mine so far but to charge the batteries: two flashes while charging in-body and three while charging the grip. I was looking all over the menu to find how charged the batteries like you do for the K1 K3, and K3-ii. It's not there. To see the charge state you have to go to Live View to see both the grip and camera, otherwise the top panel for just the body battery.

I just got the fabulous GW-4 wide angle lens and am concerned about how loose the end piece fits on the the back of the lens, and now easily it can seemingly just come off in the bag. Is there an alternate way to protect the lens?

I have a Pentax FluCard in my K-3 and when deleting files I get an error message about not being able to delete files. Ordinarily I'd "format" the card, but because it's a FluCard I'm not sure I can do that. Does anyone have any suggestions? I rarely use the FluCard, but don't want to mess it up.

I have the GR ii and am getting used to it. Are the accessories listed must haves with the camera? I'm enjoying it as is, though don't mind adding to it. I have a K-1 and K-3 for other work.

I'm replying to my own message...
With the new upgrade to my Samsung Galaxy S8, enabling use of both WiFi and Mobile Date, it interfered with the GR Remote App-Cache application. With Mobile Date disabled on the phone, the remote application worked. So disabling mobile data is a way to get it to work.

Is anyone having issues connecting remotely with the GR ii Remote Cache to Android? I just upgraded to Oreo and can't connect anymore.
