I find the X-H1 + grip a great fit (ergos/controls). K-1 plus grip, just about perfect.

Greetings UV,

Simply put, for such a young life, a host of challenges and responsibilities.

The lighting was intentionally simple, my goal was to capture her demeanor in a way that would show her in a relaxed state and place of mind.

Here is what I used and a bit of the process.

Strobe w/soft box on a light stand directly in front and slightly elevated above her eye line. K1 on a tripod just right of the light, under the soft box. I used a gold fill board bouncing up under her chin to warm her skin tones, but did not let the gold fill drift up to her eyes (the modeling light is very helpful). She is sitting on an end table that I positioned 8 feet away from the wall so I could get what I thought would be good fall off. With such a short distance between her and the camera and soft box, I chose to position the gold fill board by hand for best angle (glow), versus another light stand with a tele arm to grip the fill board.

After live view focusing to her catch lights, and making the subtle adjustments to the fill card by hand (in front of the camera), I sync fired both the K1 and the strobe with a third/mutual RF trigger. Yes I have the remote app, and while signal distance would certainly not have been an issue, practically speaking, with limitations to my grip and dexterity, I find it much easier in many situations to fire with a simple button push on a trigger, than with my phone. This method works very well for static subjects, this was my first attempt with a non static subject.

To maximize the reflective qualities of her eyes, I used a CPL, just at the blend edge.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Wonderful eyes, light and skin tones. Nice work (again!) Quick question; Did you use a hair light strobe camera left and possibly a fill opposite?

Traveling to the city the night before and with only a few early hours available, I arrived to the museum at 4:30AM the following morning to see if the sunrise might offer interesting light to the exterior exhibits. Certainly became more educated in photographing large glass sculptures in ambient light.

I will want to travel here again some day to explore photographic possibilities of the interior museum exhibits.
