Hello. The focusing motor in my Pentax 150-450 has died. Not on warranty. Do any of you know of a source for a replacement motor I can install (I’d buy the motor). Or, I’m also willing to send it in for repair if need be. Any recommendations on that? I’d prefer to buy a motor…even a good used one. Thanks

Thanks a lot for the info, guys. I’m going to go ahead and purchase the Color Fidelity profiles. @Rondec, could you guide me to a location/link that will explain how to upload the profiles into Lightroom 6.14? Either that or explain it to me here? I can’t find any information on that. Thanks a ton!

Hello. This is a related question that I hope you can help me out with. The color profiles for my K-1 were visible in Lightroom. However I upgraded recently to a K1 MarkII and there are no profiles, only embedded. Can somebody help me out with getting the profiles back in Lightroom? Thank you

Hello. I hope you good folks can help me out. I recently moved from a K1 to a K1 Mark II. With the K1, the color profiles (landscape, bright, natural, etc) were displayed on Lightroom (version 6.14) development panel when shooting in DNG RAW. With my new Mark II, the profiles aren't there. It only shows "embedded." Do any of you have info on how to get those profiles to come up in Lightroom? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Aslyfox: Yes, phototronic.biz is where I have sent mine to be repaired. Unlike you, I never carried the lens hanging down and extended. I've never bounced it like you describe. I've hardly used it and have babied it. It is a ridiculous design flaw. Tiny screws with very small threads set in aluminum. Stupid! Nothing else to call it.

Be very careful when deciding to buy the 150-450. They fall apart. Google it before buying. Mine fell apart this week after very light use. There are tiny screws that hold the main elements of the lens into the lens barrel. These screw are threaded into an aluminum ring. The holes strip easily. Again, I've used my lens maybe 20 times. Certainly no more than that. Pentax doesn't warranty this obvious design flaw. I have managed to fine a repairman to work on the lens, but at significant cost. So, even though the lens is optically wonderful, it's pretty much of a piece of junk. If you have one, handle it very carefully, and watch out for this defect. ---------- Post added 01-04-22 at 12:28 PM ---------- Here is the forum link to the issue I describe above. This image is of the Big Boy train heading through Echo Canyon, Utah. The train was part of the 150-year celebration of the driving of the Golden Spike, which commemorated completion of the transcontinental railway in the United States. It had rained all night and was humid and cold, perfect conditions for steam!

Utah Lake, in the state of Utah, is a freshwater lake just up the Jordan River from the Great Salt Lake, in Utah. It is rather unusual to see this kind of ice along the shore. There had been heavy winds and thawing temps days prior. Hoping for a sunset, I got there early and composed this scene. I couldn't believe my luck when the sky started to light up. It was an incredible evening.

At over one meter wide, this claret cup cactus (Echinocereus triglochidiatus) is the largest I've ever seen. I estimate that it had over 200 flowers blooming at once. These cacti grow in the very dry southwest deserts of the United States and Mexico. This one is located in Utah.

Rain is rare in Southern Utah, USA. But, on this camping trip, it had rained hard all night. In the morning I awoke to a glow that in my sleepy state I couldn't quite recognizer. As my eyes focused, I saw this scene. I ran as fast as I could, barefoot, to this composition, managing to make a couple of images before this double rainbow disappeared. It is the most spectacular rainbow I've ever seen, in one of my favorite places in the world.

The Great Salt Lake, in Utah, USA, is an inland sea. It is home to some of the worlds largest gatherings of migratory birds. I've tried for years to photograph a sunset there that captures the beauty of the place. With this image, I may have finally accomplished that. The areas of snow and ice contrast nicely with the intense colors of the setting sun.

To me, this film image is beautiful. It is of my wife and son on the day my son was born, and was taken in the hospital room. He's our only child and this remains the best day of my life. I believe this image captures the beauty of the day, and of new life. It was taken with a Pentax K1000, SMC 50mm f1.7, and Ilford HP5 film. Developed in Kodak HC110. This is a scan, but we have a silver gelatin print hanging in our home.

Wild stallion in the west desert of Utah, USA. My son and I hoped to see some wild horses on this trip to the west deserts of Utah, USA. We were just about to give up and head home when a large group of horses came over the hill, heading straight at us. As the group paused a safe distance from where we were, this stallion broke from the group and charged towards us. At the last moment, he stopped and spun quickly. I happened to capture the split second that his mane flew to the side and dust arose from his hoofs. It wasn't until I looked at the image at home that I realized I was probably in danger. It was a spooky moment...they are big animals...but I'm glad I captured it.
