Thanks kerrodown.
Manual focus with old lenses is not so bad as with latest models, however I think you need an adapter to use m42 with new bodies.
Regarding pentax glass on canon, unfortunately this doesn't work if the canon is a full frame. The aperture ring gets in the way of the mirror, and needs to be chopped off. I'd rather keep my pentax kit, specially if I visit someplace like yala.

Exactly, of all my contacts in SL only my father even knew about Pentax.
I toyed with various pentax lenses over the last few years after reading reviews here. Particularly liked a M class prime which produced far better results than all the cheap zooms. That convinced me the value of proper glass. I switched to a canon full frame and a proper L class lens few days ago.

Same here, I haven't met anyone before from Sri Lanka who used Pentax.
I'm from Colombo, but have been living in England and Switzerland during my dslr days.

Hi,
I got a Pentax K-r as my first dslr in 2008. A limited web survey convinced me that in-body stabilization + availability and compatibility of old lenses makes Pentax a better bargain for a beginner.
The pentax forum was my go-to place for lens reviews over the last two years and am immensely thankful for all people here who contributed by sharing their valuable experiences with various pentax lenses.
Cheers,
Kosala
