I have 2 copies of this lens, a near mint and another that is very battered on the outside but has pristine glass... I sold my x570, one of my favorite cameras but kept the lens... I decided to buy a xd11 to keep using the 35mm f1.8... it is a must have.
As soon as I get my xd11 I will reenact this picture but with far more humble lenses hehehe

something I just remembered about the k2 is that the asa ring sticks over time, so try to move from one end to the other a few end until you feel it smoother, that could fix the auto speeds. The top plate is not easy to remove, and what I was telling you about the bottom plate is that you will not see nothing wrong, but you will see some kind of volume knobs to tune the speeds, however I sold my Last k2 long ago so I don't have a way to show you which does what...

I believe it is a simple short circuit that could be caused by a "sulphated" cable, mainly the one that connects the battery to the rest of the circuitry and that the manual speed of 1/125 is simply not calibrated.

Hi, would you please a explain a little bit more in detail how do you measure the speeds?
The speed controls for the k2 are in the bottom. By just removing the plate, you will see 6 controllers.

This is my experience, I shot a Ektachrome expired in 1995 a few months back and it came out 1 stop underexposed and very blueish, and shot a Elitechrome expired in 2001 and came out perfectly exposed but a few pictures went to the red more than I would have wanted to... specially the portraits...
I would give it a try if I were you...

Hello guys, I'm sorry for reviving this old post but it was better than create a new post for previously discussed topics. I looked through google and the search box here and did not find exactly what I was looking for...
A few days ago I read that someone mentioned using a Pentax DSLR eyecup in a LX... could you please remind me which one is it? is it the one for the K10?
Thanks!

Well... I was looking and according to the FTB viewfinder specs, you are not seeing 6% of the whole image... so in that 6% might be the vignetting... am I too drunk?

I really don't know why someone on his right state of mind would make a film camera "digital" I mean... there are millions of used digital point and shoots you can get your hands on for like 20 bucks, and even dslrs, like the nikon d90, or pentax k10m k30 and so on...

Why are you doing this to me??? I am fighting very hard to keep using SLR for my 35mm asignments, but since I got a Leica M3, I fell in love with rangefinder and seems the way to go... but that means I have to leave my OM3 and the LX at home, and a Leica is to expensive, so the Bessa is a very good option... I don't know how much I will be able to resist....

I am learning from a very knowledgeable technician here in Colombia, he only has a certified course from Olympus in the 90's, however he has over 30 years experience and knows about a lot of different systems... On the other hand, there is a very known and well reputed technician in the USA whom I was thinking on asking for like an internship.. something like, I help him with everything related his work and the payment is his knowledge... that he passes on his wisdom related to cameras, specially mechanical... every time I have the opportunity to see an open camera I feel something really awesome... Those designers and engineers were incredible... the machinery is amazing, the craftsmanship on most of those 40's to early 80's cameras is something we have to preserve... no wonder you can still find and use plenty of cameras from those years, but go and try to find a good digital camera from 2000...

I believe that camera makers will never even try to make a new film camera because:
1) Nikon still makes (Cosina does actually) The super ultra overpriced fm10
2) Canon still makes the 1v and it is very very expensive.
3) Why would them make a professional camera if they know people know today we can get a used camera, like new, built like a tank, with lots of lenses (glass lenses) of incredible quality available like the Pentax LX, the Canon A-1, F-1, Nikon F3, Minolta XE-7, Olympus OM-1,2,3.4, for a lot less money we could spend on a new camera built to break in a year and plastic lenses...
I believe there is no reasone to ask for a new film camera... with the amount of used stuff we can find and the quality of the technicians we can still get today, there is no point.

Thanks for your answers... I really don't know why it happened like this to me, I mean, with all the positive reviews (it seems that mine is the only bad experience) looks like you can't go wrong, but yeah.. He did not even answer with a (I'm sorry) to my email in which I politely explained the situation... I don't know... I will try and contact him again once I'm back in the US. It is a very strange thing the LX has.. it is like you have to jumpstart the light meter before using it by moving the ASA dial... as Les said, electromechanical stuff is faddy sometimes...

Hey guys... it's been a while. I live in Colombia, south america and a cousin of mine who lives in NC was here on vacations, so I decided to give her my mirror-stuck LX along with a 35-135mm f3.5 A lens that I wanted to know if it was correctly focusing or if it was something wrong with it on the inside... so I asked my cousin if she could send that to Eric once she was there for me to avoid up to 150U$ in shipping charges... He said that the lens needed no work and that he fixed the LX, so he only charged me for the camera. When I received the package, I tried to use the lens and I expected it at least as it was before, but the lens zoom was stuck... when he reassembled the lens, a velvet lining part that makes the zoom slide to be soft was compromised and got all crushed inside because he did not rebuild the lens carefully. So I emailed him twice telling him about the lens and got no answer. The LX came working "normally", but 6 months later, after I finished using a whole bulk roll of 400asa film I changed the asa setting to 100 to use a different roll and it has a problem, it changes suddenly to a different setting so I have to take it up to 800 and then down to 6 and back to 100 for it to work... otherwise it will be as if I have it in 800-1600... when I use it in 400 it is fine, and that problem was not there because I took 2 rolls of 12 exposures of Agfa Vista 100 and 200 before sending it and it worked...
I know all of you have nothing but praise about his work but this is my first experience with him, and being from here it is not cheap at all to have that worked out... It is a shame that he did not answer my emails about it, at least with a "I send it working", and also the asa setting being bogus, so, Even when he says that he has a 1 year warranty, he does not honor it, that's why I didn't even bother emailing him about the asa thing...
I am so dissapointed...

Hello everyone! I would love to share with you our definitive film collection.
Curiously, they are all M-3's but the Pentax:
Mamiya c33 (with blue dot 80mm f2,8 and cameraleather.com red snake skin leatherette)
Leica M3 (with Elmar 9cm f4 stock, want to get the 50mm f2)
Olympus OM3 (handmade by me in blue leather with the zuiko 21mm f2, I also have the 24mm 35mm and 180 f2's and am looking for the 28mm f2 and the 85mm f2)
Pentax LX (which is undergoing a makeover in white leather. with the 40mm f2.8 M, )
