Thanks for the welcomes.

For the battery in the Spotmatic I've read that due to voltage control circuitry I can safely use a same size battery of slightly higher voltage. I've seen several recommendations for a certain energizer one available on amazon that should work fine.

Hi,

Brief intro -

Live in UK. Been into photography for around 10 years. First SLR was a Canon EOS 350D about 5 years ago, got sold after a while when I needed the money, recently replaced with an 1100d. My only film experience up to now has been point and shoots when I was younger but I was recently given a couple of Fujica film SLRs and decided I'd like to explore proper film photography. One is an AZ1 in very good condition and the other a ST705w with crumbling mirror foam and not so good condition. Awaiting new batteries to see if meters work although quietly hopeful as no visible corrosion in the chambers. Will then run a roll of film through both to see what happens. I love the feel and look of the cameras and am really looking forward to playing with them.

Whilst getting bored waiting for batteries etc I looked at what other old film SLRs can be had cheaply on Ebay and fell for a SP1000 Spotmatic (after deliberating for hours between that and a K1000) which should arrive soon. Searching for information on these 2 cameras I found this site kept coming up and had some very useful posts so decided to join!
