A heavily-cropped shot of a dew-drenched spider-web. This is a tiny element of the original. The clarity of the GR never ceases to amaze me.

The 20-40 has become my 'always on' lens for the K-30. So versatile. This was taken at around 31mm:

Once he'd said 'well, we shoot with what we can', I suspect I might have replied 'that's very true. But you've still managed to get some good snaps. Well done.'

Thank you for the clear explanation. Just looked closely at the Q-S1 and can see what you mean. Never realised it was that obvious. This group is great for education and learning!

Wow. Perhaps a clear-out before the Full-Frame Q is announced later in the year. :)

I have so enjoyed looking at the photographs in this thread. So much that I have now bought the 15mm Limited myself (it took a little while to save for it!). Thank you all for the inspiration, and I look forward to offering my own contributions very soon.

I've just received an e-bay purchase. SMC M 50mm f1.7. It cost around £20 inc. postage. The lens appears to be in perfect condition. My M collection now ranges from the 28mm to 135mm, 3 lenses bought for a total cost of under £120. Dare I let the secret out? They'll all be wanting them.
Aside from the 'manual focus' (which I enjoy), what do people see as the downside of these lenses?
First photograph taken today with K-30 and SMC M 50mm:

I know Snapsort is not a qualified analysis of cameras - it is, as you say, just a comparison. But it always makes me smile when you see results like these - and when you look at the technical detail, some would argue they do have a point. K-30, K-50, K-5, K-3....they all 'win'. Even the K-r.
But we all know there is more to it than technical spec alone (although it IS part of the discussion). And back to the OP's remarks about the value of the Limited lenses, I think there is quite a lot to consider here. After all, we are all using kit that far exceeds anything many of the 'great' photographers ever had. Provided the person BEHIND the glass is good enough, I suspect Pentax or Leica will give you wonderful results.
That said, if anyone wanted to offer me an M6 to try for a few weeks in place of my MX, I'd certainly consider it....... ;)

Sorry to jump in here, but I'm puzzled. Why wouldn't it be OK to own all four lenses. They're all different, therefore probably essential elements of any photographer's kit. You might also need the SMC 100mm Macro WR. And a couple of these in duplicate, in case you lose one. ;)

well, it IS serious. It could be contagious, and then what would we do with our time and money?

I SO love this lens. Had it around a month now, but more amazed every day.

It's a bit like buying the perfect car. There isn't one. If there was, we'd all have one. What you lose on fuel consumption you gain in comfort, or servicing costs. Or colour. Or it just 'feels' better. I'm happy with my choice. As I said, it was down to two. And put yourself on the other end of the DA* 16-50.....do you feel comfortable with than monster front-end in your face?
As I said before, I'm grateful for all the advice and support. Let's keep our conversations positive and welcoming. I'm really pleased I found you guys.

My first upload to the Forum. My first afternoon with the new 50mm (my first lens since the kit). The first crocus to bloom in the yard so far. Shot in RAW with tiny tweaks from iPhoto only.

took your advice, and got the 50mm f1.8 today. Very pleased with my new addition. Plenty of excuses to keep taking more pictures.
