My k-s2's (similar to k-70) fully articulating screen went blank recently after exposing it to rainfall (lots of it)! Camera is still taking pictures though, only the screen died. You might want to go easy on that screen.ü

The K-P is not a regular design series from pentax, its like the old K-01 or a K-S1, there's a big probability that they may never be a KP II. What I'm trying to say is, the design is a big factor when choosing the KP and not just its features. And because of its design, you may still favor it 5 years from now over newer pentax cameras with better technology.

Sony bodies are relatively good bang for the buck. And that is actually the trap, because sony's FF lenses are a lot more expensive than equivalent canon and nikon brand. Its their lens price that hurts the most when i decided the sony FF route. But sigma, samyang, zeiss and tamron are now offering autofocus FE mount lenses so there are cheaper options today.

I decided to go the sony mirrorless FF route and chose lenses that would compliment my pentax APSC system. On my travel camera bag I bring a KS-2 with a 18-135, 55-300 & tamron 10-20 plus the Sony FF with a 28mm f/2.0 and 35mm f/1.4. I find it easier to just bring two cameras and just cope with the extra weight. For museums (no flash photography), night photography and travel portraits (bokeh!) I prefer the sony FF. When it rains, snows, in the beach, pool, landscape and wildlife photography I grab my pentax. I never really switched to FF, If I did, Im sure I'll regret it. Having said that, I cant give up my FF system either.ü

This picture was taken on a cold and wet weather. I watched other passengers cover their cameras while it was raining. The K-S2's weathersealing does not disappoint.

They tested it on a K-70. I'm replacing my DA-L 55-300 with this one. Faster silent AF, WR, and RE. Can't resist anymore.ü

The grass is not always greener on the other side. These are the things i miss when im shooting my sony aps-c. 1. weather-sealing, pentax is spoiling us with relatively affordable weather sealed camera and lenses. olympus and fuji can give you this, but at a much higher price. 2. small 55-300mm, native apsc e mount maxes out at 200mm, 3. IBIS unless your buying a6500 which is about the same price as the A7ii. 4. in camera raw processing. 5. built in time lapse (no more play memories in newer bodies). 6. sony's apsc system has the the worst price to quality ratio in my opinion, unlike the FE counterpart, prepare to pay significantly higher price for mediocre optical lens performance.

I think pentax strategy of offering small weathersealed bodies with IBIS, with affordable WR lenses would work well with mirrorless. As far as i know, olympus, fuji and sony does not offer weathersealing in their entry level cameras and lenses. I think a mirrorless version of the k-70 with wr 18-135mm would be a hit. the olympus omd em5 plus 12-100mm lens, fuji x-t2 plus 18-135mm, and sony a6500 plus 18-135mm are all over $2000, and none of them have an apsc sensor, IBIS, and WR at the same time.

Its light (158g), weathersealed, and reasonably priced. Personally I bring it when I know im not going to use the lens extensively. Sort of a "just in case" lens. Its the lens I bring just in case i might need a camera or just in case i need a weathersealing when im using non-wr lenses. Its not my favorite zoom due to its limited range, fly by wire focusing and clunky ergonomics, but i never regretted buying it.

my samyang 85mm f/1.4 compares favorably to my sony 85mm GM on a 24mp sensor.

or get a wide angle zoom like the sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 and pair it with your kit zoom. when i went to hobbiton, the wide angle zoom lens was my most used lens, it was crowded there and found myself shooting in 10-15mm a lot.

i've been shooting mirrorless for a couple of years now aside from my pentax system, and the range, weight, and weathersealing of this lens makes it my most used lens in the pentax system. I have a sigma 17-70 C that is supposedly optically better and I can't see a significant difference in real world use.

I'd recommend the samyang 85mm f/1.4. I adapt it on my sony and it compares favorably well with batis 85mm on a 24mp sensor. I find it however difficult to nail focus on my ks2 at f/1.4 without using optical preview on the lcd. It could be a struggle when shooting portraits.

with the sizes of cameras shrinking, I think m4/3rds has to some extent filled the niche for small ILCs. also premium p&s now offers 1" sensor's with fast zooms (f/1.8-2.8), which the small ILC's like samsung nx mini, nikon 1 and pentax Q systems do not offer.
