I only have one A lens and it is the fairly common f/2 50mm. I absolutely love using this lens even though it is not as desireable as it's faster 50mm brothers. Here are my contributions: |

I thought it was a pretty interesting interview: How to Take Better Low-Light Photos - Gadgetwise Blog - NYTimes.com
Favorite quote from the end in regards to how to improve your low-light photography: "Don’t be afraid. You’ll be surprised just how good your photos will be. Make sure there is some light on your subject’s face. But be brave about it." |

As someone who has owned a K100DS I too remember that sensor with fondness. I remember absolutely magical captures with that camera. Maybe I have rose colored glasses of the camera because it was my first DSLR, but my only two PPG photos were taken with it.... That being said here is my contribution. I'll let you decide if it is HDR or not :)

This "mini-challenges and games" section can be used by member to run any sort of photo-related games, events, or contests. You can post "What's this" type threads, host competitions with prizes, and anything else creative that comes across your mind!
Since I kept getting confused about this I decided to compile the rules of all the Mini-Challenges and Games below. If you add a game to this thread I'll update the first post to include the rules for that mini-challenge/game. Project 52:
Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible
2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves
5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes
6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away
7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged. Weekly Challenge #XX:
1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be color or B&W, your choice.
(3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but if you have to explain it, it probably doesn’t communicate what you are trying for.) <-- Not applicable this round!!!
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.
8. Pictures can be from any timeframe, not just within the week of the current theme. I Spy:
- Pick any one object or element (color, for example) contained in the preceding post and post a photo that incorporates that chosen object/element as a main theme of the picture you post.
- Try not to openly repeat the same theme consecutively and do leave the next poster with some way to interpret their own submission.
- If necessary, include an "I Spy something xxx" to give the viewer a clue why you posted what you did. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games/40614-i-spy-photo-challenge.html Photo Scavenger Hunt:
- Photo must be taken by you or your camera
- All photos should be under 500x500 and 75k
- Only the first poster of an item gets to choose the next item
- Please keep it tastefull and "G" rated
- Be creative in your item requests, but don't make it impossible!
- You may also be creative in your posted photos of items
- Have fun!!!
- If a photo is not posted within 24hrs, the request should be changed https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games/20335-photo-scaveng...d-part-ii.html Favorite Shot From Above:
browse the persons photos that posted above you (please provided a link to where they can be found). You'll then post that photo in your response, so on and so forth. Also, please include your favorite photo from your collection as well. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games/47912-favorite-shot...-new-game.html POST A PIC TO OWN THE PIC ABOVE!
- We start off with one picture. I'll take the honours on this one...hope you don't mind.
- The next person has to post a wonderful photo that they took that will own the previous photo. Did someone in the back there say, "What does own mean?". Let me explain... If I post a picture of a forest fire...the next person could post a picture of a glass of water...the next person could post a picture of rain storm...the next a person holding an umbrella...the next a person using a parachute...the next a child dressed up as Superman for Hallowe'en...etc, etc, etc. Essentially the next picture has to out do the previous picture in some capacity. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games/33468-post-pic-own-pic-above-game.html Pictures of the Week
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 14 days. Sunday November 23rd to Sunday December 7th.
5) Enter anything you shot during the dates in the thread title until the thread closes.
That is all of the ones I could find. Hopefully someone else will find the information useful :)
