Thank you all for your immediate replies.
Yes, I opened the bottom of the camera and there are no signs of beeing water or humidity in it. Furthermore the solder joints look quite well - each cable seems to have contact.
I carefully pulled the springs, like karpati told, unfortunately it does not help.
But I guess there might be a bad connection somewhere... Well, I measured the postive pole from the batteries connects the case of the camera. But where can I find the negative?
I tried to measure the resistance between the negative pole of the batteries and any single pin of the connector from the circuit board. All measures result in very high resistances. But I think there must be at least one direct connection from the negative battery pole to the circuit board. The problem is I can not find the cables which come from the battery compartment.
Does anyone have a clue about the cables coming form the battery compartment? For example the colors?

Hello, my name is Mario and I am new to this forum.
Well, I just bought an old Pentax Asahi ES II and at first sight it is in good condition but as I inserted the batteries nothing happened.
I switched it to automatic mode and pressed the knob for battery check but the needle of the light meter did not move. So I checked each battery separately - they are all good.
I also carefully cleaned the contacs of the batterie compartment with no result.
My question: Does anyone know this problem and has an idea how to fix it?
