Just to counterbalance your great luck, I had the SDM motor failure twice on my 50-135-- once under warranty and once not. The second time I converted it to screwdrive instead of paying for a fix I had no trust in.
Pentax never owned up to this technical part failure and I got a basic "screw you" feeling from them. If not for this site these excellent lenses would have become either manual focus or paperweights.
Ricoh is not the same Pentax so hopefully they show better integrity and class towards their customers.

I just played around with crop and saturation in a photo-editor. Maybe try sepia? I like the surreal spiritual feel to the pic. Maybe sepia could add a mystical quality? The person in the lower left seems to be looking up at your giant head in awe like you are a god! :p

Thanks all for checking out the mink. Here's a shot of a fisher from a few days earlier. As in focus as the mink, is as out of focus the fisher. It was getting dark, the da300 was at 1/90th sec, and the k3 focused on the tree in front of the animal! The fisher looks like something out of deep Africa. I expected to see a bear around the house since I've been feeding the birds a little too early this year but I never expected a fisher and a mink within a few days of each other. The mink better watch out!

Still wet from a swim in the pond and on the very serious lookout for a meal of chipmunk or rabbit.

I have often wondered about the resale pricing effect on the elite A* and FA* lenses if there is a release of a full frame pentax. It would seem that there would be a fairly quick jump in the already lofty cost of these lenses (unless pentax released better modern equivalents with the full frame body).

Jatrax and others-- I think this may be the situation-- I checked my driver for the slot and it was 2006 with no available updates available. I dug up a sandisk micromate usb card adapter and plugged in the lexar 64gb sdxc card through that and all seems to be working correctly! And at full 64gb capacity too.
Time for a new computer-- not because of this only-- my dell inspiron 1720 is suffering severe onset dementia in many ways and this is just one additional malady to deal with. :)
thanks for the quick responses.

When I format this card in my k3 it records pictures. When I put it in my
windows vista machine (service pack 2) to download the photos, windows
says the card isn't formatted. I format it in vista with ex-fat mode (64gb) and
it is seen by windows. I put it back in the k3 and the camera says it is not
formatted.
It seems to be caught in an infinite loop of failure.
I downloaded SD Formatter v4 because lexar says this is recommended rather than
using the windows OS to format the card. SD Formatter only sees the card as 32gb, not
64gb! After formatting this way the same thing happens as when
formatted by windows as described above.
Has anyone else had this problem and/or any suggested solutions? If I can't get this resolved I'll be calling/emailing Lexar tomorrow.
Thanks!

If you decide to go with the Wasabi batteries buy them directly from Blue Nook and shipping is free for orders over $30.00. So you can get 3 batteries for $36 instead of 2 batteries from Amazon for $34.00.
I use both Wasabi and Pentax and I haven't noticed any significant difference in lasting power. I haven't performed consistent shooting procedures (such as live view or flash) on both batteries equally so it is hard to tell for sure if there is a noticeable difference.

You'd probably have to camp there for a few weeks. :-) I do it in my backyard. Last fall my wife was within 5 feet of a doe while it was eating the apples. I guess they have to become comfortable with your presence while they are eating things that they like so much such as apples.
The ticks can't really get on you from the ground. They need to have you brush against them and then they grab on and start climbing. They are easily knocked off clothes. The best way to avoid them is to wear white socks and pull them up over your pants cuffs. They are then easily spotted on the socks and can be knocked off. i usually spray my pants legs with deet to keep them off. They can get you high up too though from bushes you may brush against. A shower afterwards and a precursory examination is always wise. I like to view the tick problem as a glass half full/empty situation-- by checking carefully for ticks one can also be on the lookout for any small potential skin cancers. So a tick may save my life someday!

If the deer are around your area you can get them very close with apples. They love them and it doesn't take too many weeks to get them within 5 feet (or even eat out of your hand given enough perseverance). Ticks shouldn't be a problem if the deer come into a well mowed area to get the apples. It's the higher weeds that the ticks hang out on waiting, waiting, waiting....

It was working for me just now. They automatically added a 3 year non-Pentax warranty into the cart but I x'd that out and the total was $890 with free shipping. Not that I would ever order from this website. The mere fact that they don't offer the real Pentax 3 year extended warranty and substitute an expensive aftermarket one raises red flags as far as I am concerned.

If "A" is the Sigma alone, why is it so blurry compared to "C" (the Sigma w/Pentax 1.7x tc) As good as the Pentax tc may be it can't add sharpness that isn't there to begin with.
