I just ordered the gears, that are still available from HERE:

Mikroantriebe KK Produkcja Zahnrad, Schnecken und Car System Onlineshop*-*Zahnrad / Trieb M0.25 / 13 Zähne

If you order you must change the drill/hole diameter to 1.5 mm
Change the width to 2.0 mm
and the material to brass

with shipping, for three of these gears, the cost was $20.93 USD

On the 4th page of this thread is the procedure that works for replacing just the gear, without the complete removal of the motor.

I will report back if/when I manage the repair on my ZX-M and ZX-5

Eric would not repair my ZX-M as he cannot get the correct pentax parts. I wonder if he might be willing to order these gears and just replace the gears.

This was taken on a somewhat hazy/cloudy day, I handheld, but used a roadpost to help stabilize.
This camera was just returned to me with new bellows and CLA. I am quite happy with this camera!

Fixed the worst light leaks in my Rollex 120 film holder and shot a test roll of Ultrafine extreme 100, in my Voigtlander Avus 6x9, souped in d-76.
The wolf skull shotz were set up with the ground glass, the truck and landscape were both done with the sport finder wire frame.

Finished the expired film pack of Tri-X, Rated at ISO25, and processed it in PaRodinal in a Doran Tank at 100:1

A couple had serious light leak issues, but a couple managed to come out.

K-30 / K-50 Aperture Block Failue - Repair Solution available

I concur.
My K-30 is broken, it is in the basement on a shelf waiting for some determination of the cause, and a known repair path.

Until that time as I am confident that the root cause is positively identified, and a fix available to address that root cause, it will remain in disrepair.

I have other cameras that I can use. Yay Pentax lens interchangeability!

That is my position, and it is that way, because I am not willing to attempt myself, or pay for a repair based on speculation and voodoo.

I am happy that others are attempting to work out a solution, Keep at it. I just don't see a root cause that has been positively identified.

I processed some film out of a Tri-X film pack I bought online for my new 2x3 Crown Graphic in DIY PaRodinal Rated at ISO100

The pack had 15 shots left, #2 was ruined, because someone opened the dark slide.
#3 was ruined as i tried to figure out how to unload the pack and it dropped on the floor in the dark.
#4 was ruined as well, and I don't know why.

However the first shot, that someone took many many years ago survived.

2017-05-06-0001b by 45 Mike Anderson, on Flickr

Shot #5 survived, and I got a hummingbird, but I was focusing with a chunk of plastic hed by hand inside the roll film holder rails, LOL

2017-05-06-0002b by 45 Mike Anderson, on Flickr

# 6 and #7 were processed in D-76 and though they survived, they are just bad shots

I just finished off the film pack today, and will process with a slightly higher concentration of PaRodinal, also, I exposed these last shots at ISO25 or so.

I agree. My k-30 has been sitting unused since it became obvious it has the failure discussed here.
I am hesitant to attempt the repair, and I am not convinced that the solenoid is the problem.

I have a *ist DL which apparently is having the same problem, and apparently has had that problem since the day I bought it. Perhaps not, but I have several hundred images from that body that are VERY underexposed, and a bunch that seem to be fine. Intermittent aperture problem?

I am using my K-x now, and it seems to keep clunking along happily.

If I replaced the solenoid, in the 30, I am certain that I would always be apprehensive about that critical shot, ruined by a recurrence, because the actual root cause was NOT known and solved.

I did troubleshooting for H-P, and the comments in this topic do not measure up to the standards of troubleshooting needed.

I appreciate the videos, pictures and comments attempting to figure out what is really going on, but again, I have not seen any compelling demonstration of correct troubleshooting applied to the problem.

Short story. Last weekend mom came home and showed me stuff she bought at a yard sale for $20.
She knows I like photo stuff, so she got me this box looking thing with armholes covered in black heavy fabric.
Yep, a portable darkroom! Yay.

But wait, ther is MORE, if you order right now, and OPEN the box, inside I find a roll of 70mm perforated WL Kodak surveillance film!
YAY!

But wait, there is MORE, there is a Luna-Pro SBC light meter, the one that takes the 9V battery! YAY

Oh, we are not done, behind door number one, is a pristine looking Graflex Crown Graphic Graflok, 2x3 with a Mamiya 6x7 roll film holder!

Yeah, $20!! LOL, the furniture she bought was worth $20, so the box and contents was basically FREE.

Oh yeah. My only real complaint, (not really), is that the baby graphic does not have the focus screen and hood, and those seem to be impossible to find. The Kalart is a mess and will probably get stripped off as I use a focus GG mostly with the field cameras.

Anyways, just processed a roll of UFX through the roll film holder and am about to scan the shots. They look great, scale focus!

(BTW, we went back to the garage sale, and I snaffled 7 large boxes of assorted chems, papers, films and lenses and misc photo stuff for another $20.)

Most will go to ebay, but hey if I ever need to make a 24 x 36 print, I have a few sheets of paper, LOL

A few more from Lubitel 166B, UFX 100 120 roll, souped in parodinal, 4ml in a 20oz gatorade bottle. I dunno what dilution to call that. 1 hour semi stand.
Got a light leak, think I got it fixed now. It looks like some fog in this shot, so I cropped it to look like low flying cloud.
