This is a magnificent charolais bull in the Nièvre (58) department in the Burgundy region of France.

Taken with a K5 and the HD 55-300 WR.

Hope you like it!

Edit: Forgot to say this was taken with a K5 and HD 55-300 WR and in the beautiful Westman Islands in Iceland!

Great shots Dunerunner!

Here is another one from France. Already posted in another thread but this is a scene that is extremely rare nowadays! Please forgive the lack of sharpness as this was taken from a moving car through a windshield and cropped!

And one from cowboys in Saskatchewan (taken with the HD 55-300 WR at ISO 800 f/11 1/125) heavily cropped:

And this beautiful girl! (Also in Saskatchewan in a moving vehicle, unfortunately impossible to stop on the highway :() :

I love this thread, great idea Des!

Hi guys,

Because of the lighting this shot was totally uninteresting so I decided to give it a bit of edge in PP. I was not looking for a natural look, but for a shot with personality. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated!

Really good shots Mr Bassie! I was thinking about getting that Tamron lens... It gives amazing results!

Here are a few pictures from a trip to Saskatchewan, in the Canadian Prairies. I would love to tell you the breeds but sadly, this city guy has no clue!

Enjoy!

I do realise looking back that I was shooting with a way too shallow depth of field. Oh well, live and learn!

I agree with selling one the 300's, and I'll try those settings next time! I was never able to get a sharp bird at the longest end.

IQ wise it might be good but what about AF speed? Anyway at that price I guess it's worth considering! And I don't mind having an "ugly" lense ;)

Ohhh... Never thought about that! Does it focus just as well? I mainly need the 2.8 for events so I don't want to miss the moments! That would also mean less gear to carry. Me like.

Actually they would be used for different purposes. Primes are nice for portraits or as walkaround lenses, but when I do events I don't have time to switch lenses (unless I bring my K50 along, but then it's on the heavy side shooting with 2 cameras) and the 18-135 is a poor performer in low light. Overall, while I feel you can get decent images from the 18-135 stopped down, i've never really been blown away. Maybe it's my copy though...

With the 16-85 there are two issues for me: speed and price (i'm a full time master student with the accordingly high student loans). The IQ seems great, but I am really looking for a good performer in low light. UWA are nice when you are on the top of a moutain in the middle of an Island and you can embrace the whole panorama with it! (I'm thinking Westman Islands in Iceland)

Ohhhh I wish!!! Haha, maybe in a few years when I start repaying those student loans! For now, I have to get the best out of what I already own by trading or selling ;)

You're welcome! I currently live in Stockholm, but everytime I can, I try to go to Cph. By the way, this thread inspired me another one that I just posted in the critique section :)

Here is a quick update where I fixed the horizon (I think) and removed a lot of the vignette. I tend to go a little overboard in PP as I am always a little unsure of my pictures. I guess, that the confidence will come with time!

HI guys!

First post to the site! I had an Olympus E-510 before and I changed to a K5 in early 2013. Here is a shot take from a bridge with a GorillaPod. My technique still needs work, but that's why I can't wait for feedback!

Cheers!
