The K3 and K3II can run on AA batteries using the grip; so the option hasn't really been removed, just moved. :)

I just about have an aneurysm when I see scenes that involve photography, because the actors always get it wrong...I suppose paparazzi aren't the best examples to learn from.

The only time they don't accept orders (apart from religious holidays) is from Friday evening to Saturday evening. The window changes based on when sunrise and sunset occurs.

I love my SMC DA 40 Limited. It's the middle lens in my three Limited prime compact kit: 15, 40, and 70.
I also have the 50/1.8 because it was so cheap. Good for low light but I use the 40 more for a walkaround. So compact, sharp, and colorful!

Here's my SMC DA 40 Limited shot in available light around a kitchen table recently. The subject was 1 or 2 chairs over from me at the end of an oval table. I guess the distance was no more than 3' (arms length really).
And yes the shot was made wide open at ISO 800 with my K3. IMGP0093 by brad shea, on Flickr

You will have quickshift and remarkably compact size with a decently fast aperture and excellent picture quality at your disposal. Twice in the last three years my 40mm pancake lens was my one and only travel-round-the-world lens, and it did not let me down.

A weather-sealed pancake somewhere in the normal-to-wide range. That would be awesome.

We spent over an hour actually setting everything up and then my wife spent a while making it into an actual movie poster lol. I'll post a full BTS in the next few days, I just wanted to share it as soon as possible (what? I'm excited :D ).

Interesting... I never imagined it to be so good for street photography ops, are there local customs and formalities that are to be observed while doing this? :)

This is my first try with Microsoft ICE after Hugin couldn't do the job with these two frames. I think it came out well.

I'm not sure what the policy here is about posting non-Pentax related photos but I didn't find any mention to it so here it is. Please enlighten me if I am misinformed.
I just got the Lumix 20/1.7II and this is what I did with it yesterday. C&C is very welcome.

Like most things, I would not regard buying new lenses as an investment in a collectors' item. If you buy the lens new use it, with care so you get the pleasure of it doing its prime task and hope it holds value well.
If you buy secondhand, for a good price, then someone else has taken the depreciation of it no longer being new and you might, if it is a much appreciated lens type hold the dollar value.
But remember the time value of money effect. Better off putting your money in a conventional investment. (That would be like a photographer, professional, buying the lens as a tool of trade - they earn money through using it.)
I have collected many of the old Super Takumar and SMC Takumar series. I got them recently, and consoled myself that they were an investment, because I patiently found buys that were well priced in relation to eBay closing prices, but after postage I would not get my money back unless I got near top of the market price. I got them at mean or lower price. For example, I got the 20/4.5 for a closing price of USD200 + postage. The reviews here say when it was new in the 60s it sold for USD265. The original buyer would have been better investing in almost anything else. My expenditure is only an effective investment if the market for them continues to rise through their desirability on current DSLR and smaller format cameras. And with inflation the old $265 is probably more like $1000 today - so I got the bargain. (Mine was complete with lens, both caps, hood, and cases for both the lens and hood.
While I get pleasure from having and using them, the expenditure is satisfying, but it is not really an investment. I am fairly confident I could now get my money back, but that is mainly because AUD has fallen against USD recently by about 15-20% from what it was while I was buying.

A few local shots. My son and I went down to the beach to take some sunset pictures last week. I gave him the Sigma 8-16 mm and I took the Pentax 17-70 mm. We got there a little late so we got the tail end of the sunset and decided to stay and try some night shots as well. After that experience he went out and bought his first lens, a Pentax A 28 mm. Hope you like some of these!

For the past two days I've been going out to my favorite river parks, somewhere I haven't visited in two years because of illnesses. But now I'm getting better and will continue to recover. Here are two I took today:
Btw, ISO was 320, not 200.
