Kodak/Ilford/FOMAPAN films

Ok thank you all for a lot of great and helpful advice I didn't expect so much response. I finished shooting my whole trip on Kodak Tri-X and I'm more or less satisfied by the results. Nonetheless I'd like to try shooting some HP5 in the future. But now with such erudite debaters as are here on pentaxforums I'd like to ask a few more questions.

1. What does it mean when film curls while scanned?
2. What reasonably priced film negative scanner would you recomend for home purchase?
3. What developing chemicals would you recomend? (I still use Kodak tri-x but wanting to try HP5+ and delta 100.
4. I'm planning to shoot project with working title "straight from 1930's 40's" and I would like to ask if there's any type of film on the market that has not changed since than. I've discovered that for example tri-x was introduced in 1954.

Thank you very much.

Hey,

I shoot an analog BW from time to time and I would like to ask you what difference can I expect from different film manufactures? I'm used to shoot Ilford film but my local camera store offers there three brands (Ilford, FOMAPAN and Kodak). Are there any differences? Talking about the same ISO.

Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Jan Elger

You did not do any mistake, sir! I bought my K-50 in March and I can't be happier about it! Really great camera for that money. Now I'm planning to purchase 40mm limited and 55-300mm HD WR lenses :))).

*fun fact: as I am from czech republic, at the begening of the internet we had here our own search engine called seznam.cz, which sill has a majority on czech market (which is unique cause google pretty conquered over other serch engines) and somehow they've partnered up with yahoo. So as I kept my, over a decade old email adress on seznam, it works as log in for flickr as well.

Well I don't like G+ from the begening but as I visited it just few days ago and saw how they have changed it, I must say it got even worse.

Idk, they threating with yahoo accounts log in only for a long time but mine works perfectly fine sill.

*off topic: You do photography for a living? Cool! Can you check my work on flickr (link in the signature) and give me some feedback? Thank you.

I find g+ confusing and complicated so I hope that not that many people will transfer...

What about Digital Rev comunity page? Do you know it and do you use it?

Hi guys,

just saw post of one group on Flickr (self help photographer) that they move to Google +, is that a trend or just step aside? Cause I don't like G+ that much, I don't like G+ at all. What do you think and what do you use more Flickr or G+?

Thank you and have a nice day.

My idea while making this thread was that we should unite in a few groups as Canikon shooters are. Not to make dozens of others :).

Ok let's close this up. I went out shooting yesterday and the best and most creative shots I took around 40mm (37,5, 42, 43,5,...) so I'm goona buy 40mm ltd.
And thank you all for you coments. It was really helpful and educating for me. Thanks.

Wish you all a nice day,
John.

Hi guys,

Do we, who shoot Pentax, have any united group on Flickr? I found many but non of them "basic" for all of the photographers like Canikon have.
Shall we create something like that?

Thank you and wish you a nice day.

And yet, we were just chating about Pentax lenses but what about other manufacturers? For the money that FA43mm f/1.9 costs, you can buy for example sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art.

So how about others, for what I've found you can buy Pentax/Sigma/Tamron/Samyang for Pentax k-mount DSLRs and that's it.

I belive that the FA43mm/F1.9 is excelent lens and I hope I'll put my hands on it one day, but it's twice the price of 40mm ltd. HD which is already even more than twice the price of DA 35mm f/2.4.

No way even for Leica M3? How is the MX anyway? I would like to purchase one of those sometime. And how is it different from for exmp. ME?

I think it might just be. From time to time I use an film SLR Zenit E I have after my grandpa and it has Helios M42 58mm f/2 lens. I find it quite close but It forces me to think about the shot more and at the end I got a few pretty damn good photos from it. So my thoughts are that the 40mm on APS-C sensored Pentax should be aprox. the same but as I tried to set my kit-lens to 40mm it was significantly wider while I looked through the viewfinder than it was while looking through the Zenit's with 58mm on, can anyone explain why?

Ok, so 40mm XS has the same image quality as ltd.? I like how small is the XS and cheaper as well but I think that I'll buy the 35mm eventually cause, as you said, It's super affordable and as a student I don't have that much money + it's f/2.4.

And one more question: did Zeiss ever produced lens for K-mount? I have a little fetish for German products and I would once like to buy one of the Zeiss lenses :).
Thank you.
