Minolta - MD/SR mount on Pentax???

Hi everybody.

I was fortunate enough to get a bunch of old Minolta MD/SR mount lenses from another photographer who could not use them. :)

I'd like to know if there is any way that I can convert these to work on a Pentax K10d?

If not then I'll most probably put it up for sale.

If anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Danie

Macro function??

Hi all,

I have recently bought this lens at a bargain price of R500 (ZAR) / +- $65 (US$) ... ... Tamron AF 75 - 300mm F/4 - 5.6 LD - MACRO 1:3.9 - (Model 672D). :)

I thought it to be a good deal, the lens is basically new. The guy who sold it was just getting rid of his equipment because he doesn't have time for his hobby.

On the lens it is written Macro 1:3.9, but I just can't figure out how the macro on the lens works. There is no hard switch on the lens to turn on a macro function. :hmm:

Does anybody know how this works?? I downloaded the manual for the lens, but it doesn't state how it works.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Kind Regards
Danie.

Thanks for all the comments...it definitely helps.
I was going for the mysterious look on the photos....the doll photo being my personal favorite of the two.

Thnx again for the C&C.

This is what I love about the PentaxForums....if it says "post your photos here to receive C&C" you actually get C&C.

Thanks

Curious, who did not get a K20 and why?

I got my K10D beginning of this month only....Reason for not going K20D mostly money...as most of us.

I feel the K10d to me has got more than enough power for what I'm shooting and it will keep me busy in learning all the ins and outs for a while.

I'd rather build on my glass and when the new K30D (or whateva it will be called) comes out...get myself a K20D at a lower price. The same way I got my K10D. :D and I'll still use the K10D as a backup.

There is just not enough 'new technology' to the K20 to give up my K10d.
I might even consider getting a K100d super as backup to the K10d, the way the prices are dropping. ;)

That's my 10cents worth.

Hi.
I'm not to sure about which manual lenses works on pentax DSLR's...I've done some photo's on my uncle's Ist DL with the older manual lenses and the quality is just so much better.

Looking at the following lenses: (will be using it on a K10d)

Pentax-M SMC 135mm f/3.5 manual lens

(Pentax-K mount) Tokina RMC 80-200mm f/4.5

Any advise on this will be great...
Is there a lot of settings that need to be changed for shooting with manual lenses on DSLR's? (K10d)?

Thanks
Daniel

Hi Everybody!!!

Stumbled upon the PentaxForums while reading upon the K10D. I'm Looking at buying a second hand one now that the 200D and 20D has been released. Have seen the price drop quite rapidly round here.

I'm still on a old Contax 35mm, but since I felt the great "Feel" of the Pentax DSLR range and seen the features and quality, I just want to get myself a Pentax.

Reason for looking at the K10d is plainly because I'm on enrty level at DSLR I don't want to go and buy a K20 right away. (don't have that kind of money anyway).

Photography I'm interested in is, Landscape, Abstracts, People(weddings etc.) and some Visual impact stuff.

At the moment I'm a full time Sound and Video Engineer in Cape Town, but am looking at leaving this profession sometime in the future to start my own Photography studio and become a great photographer.

Well, thats me in a nutshell. Sure I'm gonna have a great time and learn alot from everybody here.!!!!

God Bless
Daniel J
