Love the beautiful rendering of the pale blossoms and the soft background. It reminds me I need to use my A*200 Macro far more than I do.

Nice shot! And I might add no noise worries either. Don't have the 21 but maybe one of these days! Until then I'll have to make do with my FA20-35.

Thx for your comments Mobusaki & Larrymc. I just called Precision who said they'd check to see if their parts department has a spare one. Weather proof or not, I'd like to have one if for no other reason to keep the dirt from accumulating.

Regardless of how one feels or thinks about the K-3iii Mono vs. color converted to B & W choice, I think it's really good news for the Pentax Brand. Pentaxians have for years been dismissed as no longer relevant in the digital photography world. The Mono is changing that perception. As long as the sales keep growing-and with reviews like the one above they should-this will help those in both camps because the additional revenue & profit will enable faster/broader lens development. That has been my main concern with staying with Pentax.

I recently received my K-3iii back from Precision Camera and noticed the x sync cover is missing. What effect if any does this have on weather/water resistance?
P. S. The final bill was $1124 for the replacement of the LCD and main circuit board. It took approx. four months.

Photographed both male & female Bluebirds bringing insects to their nest cavity at my local state park. The tree was right next to the parking lot so the birds were used to humans nearby.

Two wide angles for sale. I have too many wide angles so I've decided to sell two of them: 18mm SMC Pentax & 17-28mm Pentax Fish Eye Zoom. Both are very lightly used in excellent condition. No issues with mechanics or optics, no scrapes anywhere. I hope someone can find the time to use them. They just sit on my shelf. Both have unique features that you may find interesting. Both are compatible with virtually any 35mm K-mount camera, however, best suited for full frame bodies. Checkout both lenses in the PF database.
1. SMC Pentax 3.5/18 made in Japan: Will work on any K-mount camera with the restrictions noted below. It has four built-in fitlers for B & W and accepts gel filters.
Compatible w/ Prerequisites
Stop-down meter in M mode
Must set "allow aperture ring" custom function
Standard Lens Features
Aperture: Manual
Focusing: Manual
Mount: Pentax K (K)
I bought this camera from a fellow Pentaxian on 2/18/22 for $290. Asking $250.THIS LENS HAS BEEN SOLD
2. Pentax F Fish Eye Zoom 3.5-4.5/17-28 made in Japan.
I'm the original owner since June 1996. This is a great little lens for big landscapes and tight quarters (slot canyons for example). Asking $185.
Both for $400. Shipping cost for buyer's account. PayPal or Venmo. The 18mm has no case/pouch or box; the F. E. zoom has the original box, caps & pouch.
PM me if interested or with questions.

Here's an update to my post of 10/18 on Precision Camera repair services for my K-3iii. It's currently waiting for parts ("main circuit" & "finder LCD") from Pentax/Ricoh. No estimate of when the parts will be available. I presume I'm in line behind warranty repair, but who knows. It's been two months since I sent it to them.

I tried depressing each of the four brass(?) contacts with the of an unsharpened pencil several times...they all seem to move about the same. You can't tell any difference in height by just looking at them. The good news is there's one position of the lock that makes contact. You can see that on the flash unit display because when you turn the zoom ring on the lens, the focal length changes. I think I can live with that. Thx for the suggestion.

Thank you Fries & MikeNArk. This guy is the dominant male in the herd. It was exciting to be so close. I was too close once when I found myself-standing behind a small sign-about five feet away from one of the bulls. He came running toward me to exit the large field where he'd been locking horns with another pretender. The exits from the field are few and narrow. I froze & he finally went past. I've one more to share, probably my favorite.

I recently returned from a successful shoot of the elk rut in Great Smoky Mountains NP. They have a heard of aprox. 350 including 3-4 bulls competing for cows to add to their harem. We shot in two main areas: the large field next to the Oconaluftee visitor center and in the Cataloochee valley. Fog was prevalent in early AM hours adding to the challenge of capturing these very large animals. I used telephotos ranging from the Da* 200, 300 to the FA* 400. It's easier to get closer to the elk in the early AM when there are no Rangers or volunteers around to strictly enforce the min. 50 yard distance. However, you have to be very careful, move slowly and be aware of where the large bulls are. I did see one or two photographers whose rapid or unaware movements (a phone photographer) stressed the elk as they moved through the woods from the river to get to the large field. In the woods a fast 200 works well; in the field near the visitor center when crowds show up & the 50yd. distance is enforced, a 600 is called for. Out in the Cataloochee valley, which will almost always be very foggy early on, 400 to 600 will get you the large images of the big bulls (without severe cropping).

Really nice shots & I think the larger size of these images makes the sharpness & color depth more apparent. Lower noise is also a plus. Net, you've convinced me to use PS with one of my K-3iiis on a tripod when I can get out to shoot fall color.

Thx to all. I was torn also. I bought a used second K-3iii for a trip to Great Smoky Mountains NP 'cause I knew it wouldn't be back in time. I've now discovered-as you may have see in my recent posts-the second body's hot shoe won't discharge the AF360 flash unless the "fix" lever is in exactly the right position! I came back with nice images from the elk rut so I can't complain too much.

I have double-checked as directed above and "flash on" is selected & still it won't trigger. ---------- Post added 10-19-23 at 11:05 AM ----------
I've cleaned the contacts, wiggled & wiggled & still it won't trigger....until just now! It finally discharged when I wiggled AND moved the "fix" lever on the flash. When I move the lever all the way to the right it won't trigger! Back it off almost all the way & it works. Success appears to be a function of the exact position of the "fix" lever, how convenient (NOT). I'll not be using this body for any serious flash photography.

Answers; yes all modes, DA16-85, yes tried all menu flash shutter speeds, tried wiggle no flash. Also mech. shutter set in menu still no flash on k-3iii.
Unless someone else has another idea, I'm about to conclude the hotshot mount is defective.
