The 15mm Limited controls my mind - club

Thanks for the replies and info everyone. Been busy so I wasn't able to respond to each as I'd have liked. Anyway, my detach date got moved on me so I jumped and ordered the 15 from Adorama yesterday and it got here today (one benefit of being stationed in New York). Anyway, I'm looking forward to using it on my road trip and hopefully I'll have some good shots to post for y'all when I get to California (home) and Washington (station).

Ah, thank you, I'll check that out when I get back to my computer. For some reason I never found that thread in my search (probably because I was searching for the 15mm specifically). It also looks like that thread will answer another question I had after I noticed a couple recent posts talking about CA.

Question about the HD and non-HD versions: How different are the pictures taken by these two lenses?

From what I've read it seems like the HD version reduces flare (due to the coating) but loses some starburst definition (due to aperture blade design). I've tried looking through the images on this thread, but it's hard to dig through at over 500 pages, and I haven't been able to find very many pictures with the two versions in similar situations.

In case anyone was wondering, I'm currently looking for a new lens for my K-3. Bought it last year along with the 31mm and have been loving it. I was originally looking at a zoom lens (17-70 or 18-135) until I found this thread. Looking to order soon due to an impending cross country road trip. One perk of changing duty stations, I guess.

I don't specifically remember Cuckold Landing, though the name sounds familiar. Definitely went through Ashepoo though because I chuckle every time j see that name haha.

Thanks!

The store is near the intersection of highways 17 and 21. There is another along 17 as well but I don't remember where. Thanks for the welcome, I've enjoyed my stay here so far (except for the summer heat and humidity haha). I've enjoyed both cities as well, both great for walking around and relaxing, especially Savannah with those squares every few blocks. What part of the state do you live in?

I'll have to go downtown when the market's open- lived here for over a year and have only been downtown when they're closed. I guess shopping isn't too popular at night haha.
The 31mm is my widest lens. I have a couple longer lenses, so I'm on the lookout for something wider. Any suggestions?

Thanks! I agree about the second two, I guess you could call them context photos :) .

I stopped at this cider shop on the way to Savannah while my family was in town to visit. Had some tasty peach cider and got some good photos (I think :)).

This one is my favorite of the two. I think part of the reason is the colors, and the other part is probably because I love pickles haha.

I think this would have come out better if I had taken more time to square up to the shelves, but it was a quick shot as we were leaving, so considering that I think it still came out nice.

I like the first shot as well. I've been to LA many times, but never did make it up to the observatory.

Kerrowdown, sadly with the way LA is now it's not a great spot, but just think of how nice it must have been back when it was built in the 1930's!

Thanks everyone! Here's a rotated version- I just used the Aviary editor from flickr for simplicity's sake. I think I got it straighter, but the uneven fence and sloping roof on the left edge throw me off.

Thanks for the welcome! Loving the 31mm so far, and my adapter just arrived in the mail so I can start using the Takumars :) I finally got a pic up in the 'Post your photos!' forums, and hope to put up more (and look at others!) as I have time.

Thanks! I liked the movement on the steam too. How would I go about fixing that distortion? (Not quite sure I know quite what you mean, though. I do know the level is a bit off due to my balancing the camera on top of my car and propping it with a pack of Camels and Zippo as best I could- no tripod yet .)

Howdy everyone! I got as far as introducing myself on the forums about a week ago, and now I finally have some time to share some of the pictures I've taken since I got my camera. This is of a paper/ pulp mill here in North Charleston and one of the first pictures I took with this camera (my first dslr, though I used to shoot with an old spotmatic years ago). Feel free to comment/ critique to your heart's content!

I think this post abides by all the rules, but if I need to fix something, just let me know.

Just realized I had this in 'Abstract'... woops. Should probably be in a different category.

Howdy, all! I was lurking around these forums while I was trying to decide on a camera and lens to get, so I figured I'd join them now that I've got one. My last (and only) SLR was a Pentax Spotmatic that I loved, but stopped using for various reasons. Moved to a good little Canon point-and-shoot after that and used it til it died. Since then I've been relegated to phone cameras, my current one being a Nokia Lumia 920, which isn't bad for a phone camera.

Anyway, I was dying to get back to using a real camera and decided on the K-3. Got the deal from Adorama that included the 31mm limited lens (and the rep gave me a military discount too- go Navy!). Thanks to everyone on the forums so far for making me aware of that deal and for all the reviews and info on the body and lenses. I'll have to post some replies in those threads when I have some time. I've had the camera for a few days now and am loving it. Can't wait for my dad to get my old Takumar 50/1.4 and telephoto to me so I can try those out as well (pentax adapter is still in the mail).

Look forward to using the forums and sharing info with everyone as I have time!

-Josh
