Ahhh, I see. Absolutely - in terms of features per cubic centimetre digital is miles ahead. I was more thinking of the opportunity Pentax might have to create what the Nikon DF could/should have been if they wanted to stick to APS-C, but offer people more use of legacy lenses as they were intended to be used.

Exactly what I was thinking - you could create the oft-discussed K1000d without having to sink money into FF sensors. Whack a K3 sensor (or even the K5-IIs) into a body a la the LX/K1000 along with the converter built into the mount, a really good EVF and focus peaking and I'd be very happy indeed.

Streets 35mm Macro for Street

I shall definitely try that out on a nicer day soon - particularly the St Paul's churchyard.

I've always been a tad reticent about approaching the street vendors with a camera in hand; none of them seem very keen on a photographer poking about!

Yeah, I can definitely see things ending that way. I think the biggest problem is going to be prioritising which comes next...

Cheers - it's my go-to for trying out a new lens in a street scenario, as you can always guarantee that you'll come away with a variety of different scenes.

Thank you - I'm lucky to be able to put it to any use really! Hope you enjoy yours as much.

Surprisingly for a short macro, this lens is really usable for street photography. I've only had it a couple of hours, so I look forward to bedding it in a little more!

Love the fourth one - very characterful!

That Helios bokeh is really something else; creates an interesting look.

So the 35mm just got to my front door...

It's a bloody horrible day so far here in London, so all I've been able to manage are some boring indoors shots. Still impressed by how the lens performs though!

Both of these guys need to learn how to handle conflict resolution.

Cop was unprofessional and unclear of the law, the guy filming was spoiling for a fight.

p.s. I'm not sure about the US, but the law on video/photographing police officers in the course of their duties is a bit of a grey area here in the UK.

sling type camera bag for K-r

I've used a Lowepro Sling 100, ended up returning it after a couple of days trying it out around the house in favour of a normal messenger-style camera bag. It wasn't all that much quicker than any other bag, and was a pain to sling around.

If you travel light I'd recommend a Black Rapid sling strap instead - got one and have never looked back.

I went from owning a Fuji to owning a Ricoh GR. Then I drank the Ricoh Kool-Aid and got a K5-II.

The Fuji was lovely to look at, but the things that really ended up getting to me were:
  1. The EVF gets noisy in low light;

  2. The battery lasted about 300 shots - my K5-II readily gets 3 times that;

  3. The XE-1 was smaller and lighter, but not by enough to be all that noticeable - it promised more than it delivered.

I do miss all the lens adapters that're available though. I really miss using the 40mm Voigtlander I bought for the XE-1, and can't bring myself to sell it on the grounds that one day I might buy myself a Leica.
