Pentax for life!

Come this labor day Monday, I will have owned my Pentax K-5ii for exactly one year. Around this time a year ago, I had done extensive research and was convinced that my first dslr was going to be a Pentax as opposed to Nikon or Canon. I still remember typing "Pentax k" into the search bar on craigslist NYC with little expectation of finding anything good. Imagine my surprise when I found a K-5ii body for sale, brand new, at a quarter of what was the retail price at that time! What made it even better was that I was planning a day trip up to New York from Baltimore that labor day and the owner had posted it the night before! And the rest, as they say, was history. It has been a delight learning how to shoot with my k-5ii and I've scoured countless thrift stores and traveled many miles since then in search for used pentax lenses and gear, only to discover a community of equally enthusiastic and devoted pentax owners. I have never in my entire life on the internet seen anything like this forum where people are so welcoming and encouraging to one another! In addition to the fact that I will cherish this lens by taking great quality portrait photographs with it (as is my passion), I will take it with me everywhere I go including my upcoming trip to Australia and New Zealand in late October of this year. I will love it, cherish it, and perhaps out of gratitude, give it away :)

This is a portrait of my dear friend, Lora Landgraff, using a manual lens I found at a goodwill.

I just found this beautiful video on booooooom and I just had to share it:

The city of Paris as seen through the viewfinder of a Pentax 67. I guess this is cheaper than actually shooting the film! Watch “Paris Through Pentax” below!

That's a great suggestion. Maybe even paint over it in photoshop to match the background.

This was shot using a vintage screw mount lens I found at a thrift store for $5!
This is a great duo out of Baltimore, MD consisting of Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner. Andy plays drums with one hand and keys with the other all while manipulating loops and singing harmonies. Jenn sings sweet melodic tunes with incredible lyrics and masterful guitar/bass skills. It's almost hypnotic watching her play! Their music has been featured in a range of movies and TV shows including the Walking Dead. Check them out! Wye Oak> Civilian. Merge Records.

Our cat Batman. He is very investigative and a gentle soul. His brother is a bit goofier with grey and white fur which makes him look like he is wearing a mask, hence his name Robin. They have a great dynamic.

No amount of post-production could have changed the fact that it was a cloudy day and that the only camera I had on me at the time was the one in my phone, a 1rst gen Motorola X. This photo was shot in the spring of 2011 in Aberdeen, MD and it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Unfortunately I did not own my K-5ii at the time, but this very picture is the reason why I carry it with me where ever I go now. Nevertheless, I am happy with this shot despite it's poor image quality.

The original photo came out dark so I adjusted the contrast levels which brought out the wide range of colors you see here. These colors are not artificial, they are just magnified. No artistic filters were added.

Thanks all, for the warm welcome! I had a delay in my response because I got snowed in at work. Here was my view from last night. This is probably a big no no -posting a camera photo for my first post, but it has my k5ii and the Baltimore Aquarium in it!
