Btw, I found two "switched from Canon to Pentax" threads, one on this forum and a much older one elsewhere.

So which brand would you guys want me to buy into so I can come back and say, "This is why I switched (back) to Pentax"?
I'm sure Michael Zhang is waiting... :p

Neither. Close to 70k now and no issues.

Over on the other forum, Ron Brandon has suggested a number of ways this can be achieved without removing the lever. Thread title is "Pentax K / KM lenses, a reminder."

That Adorama shave off the accessories to then sell separately.

When recently looking at legacy glass, I came up with two questions I couldn't answer for myself:
1) I understand the difference between a PK and PKA lens is the presence of an A setting on the aperture ring in the latter or complete absence of an aperture ring. However, PK lenses seem to come in two flavours - those with an aperture lever and those without (permanent DoF preview). What abbreviation is used to distinguish these two types of lenses?
2) I've noticed that on the PK lenses I've seen, the aperture lever is used for stopping down, whereas on my PKA AF lenses, using the aperture lever opens the lens up. I couldn't figure out why, when it seems to make no difference at least to modern cameras. Is the reversal of the mechanism needed to make the A setting work?
Thanks.

Any update on this? Will it work reliably with focus confirmation, or not? Thanks.

I knew when I posted that it would be seen as a free-for-all, so please, keep on hitting. It doesn't even hurt much.

Trust me, you'd feel differently if you really can't afford it, and you missed out on even being in the draw.

I missed the give-away, and I'm extremely disappointed. I received no notifications that I had to return to confirm. I'd checked back before the weekend, and the counter wasn't at 3 million yet. There's no other way I will be able to afford this lens now or in the near future, so I'm bowing out. You can all go and bully me now.

Hi Alex. From the autofocus section I understand that focus confirmation with manual focus will also give inaccurate focus. Can you confirm this? Thanks.
