Guess I'm like the other posters, an interest in photography makes me looks at my surroundings in a different light, macro just makes me look at small detail closer. I'm not that interested in bugs, but the minute detail in mechanical devices entices me to think about how they were designed and manufactured. Clocks and watches (the mechanical type) are a great example, but I used to work on mechancial avionic equipment that captured my attention with the fact someone sat down to design something mechanical to solve an analogue problem. Having the ability to record it in detail makes it all the more satisfying

I have rather a lot of setups that count as "macro rigs". Here's one, or part of one: Macro + micro by baro-nite, on Flickr
Microscope objective using the Pentax-A 50/2.8 macro as a converging lens, on the Q. And here's a shot (a 22-shot stack, actually) from it: Tiger Swallowtail eye spot by baro-nite, on Flickr

Hello cmexonat, thanks for starting this useful thread!
Here's a somewhat fuzzy shot of my setup, it's similar to yours, with the addition of a 'Magic Arm'.
Credit for this handy flex-mounting goes to Hangman43, here; https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/38-photographic-technique/228550-my-techn...o-insects.html and since trying it, I take the flash bracket, arm and sync cord pretty much anywhere I'll be shooting closeups.
With this, I can have top, side or angled lighting, bounce, fill or diffused, all with a twist of the arm-locking key.
Works with virtually any safe-voltage flash, as long as it has power ratio settings.
It does get 'floppy' once you loosen the arm, but if the camera is tripod mounted, no problem. Takes a bit of practice to adjust it handheld, though.

Here are some of mine ...
Hopefully in a short while I will be building another Macro flash rig , this one will be given away ( free bee ) , and now that there is a dedicated Macro section ... (?)
