Out of curiosity, what are the "negatives" for having SR on while using a tripod?

The K-3 is my first DSLR (I also bought an RX100II maybe six or seven months prior to it) and damn, I LOVE it. Are there better cameras? Sure. Do I need them? Nope. Can I afford them? Hell nope. K-3 is perfect for me!

I bought an RX100II around a year ago, but wanted a DSLR as well. I bought the K-3 around April and have absolutely adored it. Zero issues, it shoots great photos, and I feel like a bit "unique" being able to explain to people why I chose a Pentax over a CaNikon. 10/10 would buy again.

You should be shooting in RAW. Those modes don't make any difference.

Just a reminder, you should be holding the menu button down when you turn the camera on.

They're moving from 1.03 to 1.10? Seems like a large jump. I wonder what other features they might include.

I bought an old 35-105 f3.5 a couple of months ago and it definitely has the Pentax look. It's hard to get used to manual focus, but I'm having a blast with it.

Skipper, isn't the fisheye just wonderful? I've found it produces such nice, colorful images. The CA is a bit pronounced especially on overcast days, but overall, such a nice lens.

Vic Gundotra was not fired. Your post is rife with speculation.

I have the RX100 II and I really don't see any need to upgrade. The EVF is nice, as is the higher bitrate video, but I'm extremely happy with the mk II.

Hey Tom.
I found the guide pretty useful. It didn't necessarily recommend what the ideal settings are, but it definitely opened my eyes to some of the features of the K-3 I wasn't aware of. It was worth it, in my opinion!

Hey mattieyp3,
Thanks for the advice. I'm pretty well-versed on the basic things like P, A, S, M and how aperture and depth of field work.
What I'm more wanting to know are the "optimal" settings within the camera itself that most people use. The high ISO NR example I mentioned above is one example. I'm going to be using the 50mm 1.8 lens, and I read a thread earlier about lens calibration. Do all lenses need to be calibrated? How do I know?
Those kind of things. Like I said, if a professional has written a guidebook, please let me know. I haven't been able to find any for this camera.

Hey all,
The Pentax K-3 will be my first SLR. I've had my RX100II since September, and fallen in love with photography, and wanted to step into the DSLR market.
As someone who is relatively new, I bought the Friedman Archives "Guide to the RX100II" which has been an awesome resource whenever I have questions about what certain functions of the camera do.
I know that the K-3 is going to be quite a beast to tame for someone pretty unfamiliar with all of its controls and settings.
Does anyone have any tips (for example, I read in another thread turning off high ISO auto NR) that will help a beginner? Or perhaps a link to a professional guide book more in-depth than the standard owner's manual?
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate it immensely.
