You should consider this article Do Sensors “Outresolve” Lenses? - but you must note that there is only considered diffraction limit. For lenses open below f/8 there is a problem of different aberration witch significantly lowers the theoretical resolution (which shows the next link).
Or do a quick look at the Lens scoring versus Optical Metrics - DxOMark database - no lens reaches the 36Mpix count on d800.

There is no big sense going into 36mp sensor with FF supposed Pentax.
Generally there is no sens in such big MP count sensor in FF camera. The lenses optical detail reproduction is at the limit with such dense sensor like in d800e.
Where will you use such big resolution? It can only be utilized in big format prints - like those on buildings... (but again for those you should use mid-format camera to get a better detailed image).
The point of d800 position on the market is that not-so-well-prospering pro photographers can use it as an economic alternative for mid-format digital cameras. But it is only cheap alternative not a competing approach.

That's not the way of achieving more details. You want more detail in landscapes - you use bigger lenses and grater sensor (read mid-format).

Not so simple... I became FullFrame addicted ;]
I don't know exactly but the way lens draws an image is... is... different... richer.

Wow! It would be marvelous! I don't know what to say.....

Hi everyone,

I photograph for a few years now. Started when I was a teenager with 35mm negative color film and Practica camera. But quickly dropped it due to problems with developing, lack of knowledge (I was growing in a small town, and it was pre-internet era in poland ;] ). After a couple of years, when I moved to Warsaw, I started again with digital. From Canon high-level p&s I quickly jump to Pentax k10d with some short episode with Canon SLR. Just fall in love with Pentax ;]
Now I shoot with old k5 (bought it short after release).
But about a year ago I got a Pentax MX and now I can't stop shooting slides and occasionally some color negative 35mm film.
Now I'm hunting for Pentax SuperA / SuperProgram to stop my KA lenses from rusting ;]

I've got a flickr account If you want to view some of my photos - Flickr: Sir Gareth's Photostream

Best wishes all!
