Hey folks. I am a dreaded lurker more than poster...sorry about that. I have a K20d a tripod and 60 acres of land in the middle of no place, AZ. There is zero light pollution, ok, next to zero. I swear I can see the milkyway with my unaided eyes. Please! For the love of all that is holy!!...too, dramatic? Someone tell me what in the heck I am doing wrong when I try to a decent shot. This is what I have: k20d, Tamron 75-300mm 4-5.6, Pentax DA 18-55mm 3.5-5.6, good tripod, lots of time and a dwindling amount of patience for myself. I've heard this isn't the best camera to take "stargazing" shots but I prefer to look at this as a learning experience. If I should buy a new or different lens, suggestions would be welcome. As far as light pollution, closest town has less than 400 people and that's 11 miles away as the crow flies and northern AZ has light pollution restrictions.
Thanks, dave

I'm just getting back into photography for a few reasons. In no particular order, I'm going on a first retirement road trip to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks, I love having another relaxing hobby, I found extra money I can through at a hobby! I would love to take some decent time lapse shots and was wondering if anyone has any experience using panolapse software?
Thanks, Dave

Glad I found this forum. Recently purchased a k20d to take with me on a 6 week road trip to Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. I also have/had a Maxxum 7000 that doesn't work. I got a quote of $200 to get it fixed if it was a quick fix so I figured it was about time to dive into the the world of DSLR.
