This is a natural rock formation, resembling a bridge. It is known as the Maiden's Bridge.
According to folks tales, a young woman threw herself off of this stone bridge because of unrequited love. |

I have to say, this year the choice is not hard. Not many good ones, at least for my taste.

To be honest, I will be very disappointed if AF is not on par with at least 80D or D7500 . I love my K-5IIs for image quality, but actually focusing on anything moving was always pure luck.
I'm not a sports shooter, but it would be nice to be able to focus on a moving target once in a while... Would love to have at least one photo of my daughter running and in focus

Sigma 17-50 was designed and produced way before KP was released. I would guess there's an incompatibility between the lens and the camera.
This lens doesn't support updating firmware, so no way of resolving the problem on your own.
At least it works in certain configuration (as you described)

Not sure if I agree with you. They spent 3 years improving an optical viewfinder, which is ancient technology.
Also, using a different sensor requires a lot of work to integrate and to make the most of. If the new sensor only came out recently, I seriously doubt Pentax engineers had enough time to utilize it properly.
Don't get me wrong, I love the optical viewfinder, but I would not get my hopes up about a revolutionary new architecture or crazy new features. I think the new K will be an evolution, improvement in all areas, like K-3 was over K-5.

I like the look and IQ of DA21, and looks like on APS-C it provides same FOV as 31mm on FF.
Not sure if that is considered Wide angle, more of a "widish" angle. If the OP wants to try Wide angle photography, I would go with 15mm or wider on APS-C. 16-45 is close enough, it's a fine lens

Yes... exactly. 16-85 looks like a wonderful lens, but it's not cheap. I guess there's no such thing as good cheap WR lens that starts at 16mm AND has a good IQ :D

I sold my tamron 17-50 and I was looking for a replacement. Pentax 16-45 fits the bill perfectly as I don't need 2.8 and I wanted more on the wide end. It's not too big and the image quality is there. BUT I really want a WR lens.... |

I often use 10-17 fisheye and then defish using different software (currently Hugin panorama). Fisheye can be a lot of fun, and 10-17 delivers.

From what I can see, it's mostly marketing that drives big manufacturers to release new products, because new "features" are needed to sell MORE, so the financial targets are met.
It's also in the core of Agile development, where you produce "minimal viable product" and then build on that, for either "updates" in software world or completely new cameras.
The pace at which updates and/or new products are coming out is 'fast and furious'.
This philosophy appeals to younger generation who is impatient and hungry for instant satisfaction, succumbed under the notion that your personal happiness and professional success depends on having something that is latest and greatest (and most expensive).
At least latest and greatest as reported by the army of paid reviewers and so called journalists.
Pentax is the opposite, where they take years to come up with a product and practically have no marketing at all.
I enjoy using my Pentax K-5IIs, and enjoyed using K-x before that. I enjoy the photos I've taken over the years. These cameras are absolute tanks, with exceptional image quality for a fair price.
The lens that is in the title of this thread may be one of the reasons I buy a new body, because it's not compatible with K-5IIs.
This is where the problem lies with Pentax, their cameras are too good, people don't feel the need to replace them :)
I tried a MILC from a friend, and I didn't find it any more capable. Perhaps I didn't use it in a situation where this advantage would show, but the battery did run out pretty quickly :D

This cat looks vigilant. I was checking if I can get a useful image from my 40mm 2.8 XS.
Bought it some time ago here in the marketplace, but it looks decentered. Everything outside of the dead center is very bad, no matter what aperture I use.
This photo turned out fairly usable, if you don't examine too closely... |

Nikon 70-200 F4 is currently ~$1400, so there's that. Canon is not far off.
Those lenses do have stabilization in them though...
I'm sure Pentax didn't just slap their name on the lens, there are coatings and weather sealing which are the best in the business.
