I have to say, this year the choice is not hard. Not many good ones, at least for my taste.

To be honest, I will be very disappointed if AF is not on par with at least 80D or D7500 . I love my K-5IIs for image quality, but actually focusing on anything moving was always pure luck.
I'm not a sports shooter, but it would be nice to be able to focus on a moving target once in a while... Would love to have at least one photo of my daughter running and in focus

Sigma 17-50 was designed and produced way before KP was released. I would guess there's an incompatibility between the lens and the camera.
This lens doesn't support updating firmware, so no way of resolving the problem on your own.
At least it works in certain configuration (as you described)

Not sure if I agree with you. They spent 3 years improving an optical viewfinder, which is ancient technology.
Also, using a different sensor requires a lot of work to integrate and to make the most of. If the new sensor only came out recently, I seriously doubt Pentax engineers had enough time to utilize it properly.
Don't get me wrong, I love the optical viewfinder, but I would not get my hopes up about a revolutionary new architecture or crazy new features. I think the new K will be an evolution, improvement in all areas, like K-3 was over K-5.

Very exciting... new 16-50, new aps-c flagship, improved autofocus and image quality :)
This will be my next camera, time to retire my K-5 IIs

Do you think there's any chance of Pentax updating the AF assembly on the 60-250?

This will be the most coveted lens in the entire Pentax lineup... wonder if it will be compatible with K-5II(s)
Edit: just saw the mount will of course be KAF4 with completely automatic electromagnetic aperture control, so no, not compatible with K-5II

Pentax DA 10-17mm fisheye
Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 (almost always on my K-5IIs)
Pentax XS 40mm 2.8 (decentered but still use it sometimes)
Pentax FA 50mm 1.4 (waiting to be sold)
Pentax A 50mm 1.7 (attached to my Chinon CE-4)
Tamron DI SP 90mm 2.8 Macro (also usable for portraits, great bokeh IMHO)
I recently sold Tamron 17-50 and I'm not planning to buy a replacement.
I'm pretty satisfied apart from that 40mm which I would like to repair but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
As soon as I sell my FA 50mm I think I might buy something longer, perhaps 60-250. Although I probably would not use it much.

I don't see a problem, if the lens is not to your liking, you should return it. And looks like you already have a lens that delivers, the Irix 150mm MACRO or Sigma 180 MACRO which is suitable for what you need.
I don't think any zoom lens will come close to the performance of any macro prime. I read on this forum some time ago that every zoom lens is basically a compromise, and that zoom lenses can never achieve the sharpness of a prime lens (especially one optimized for macro).
That said, I thought your photos looked very nice. Perhaps you should post some that you consider unusable

Doctors and medical staff are usually not forthcoming to provide details, and are usually annoyed when they are asked to provide explanation about procedures. At least from my personal experience...
Better PR and providing more details, which have roots in scientific research, would be helpful in reducing panic and compulsive buying of medical supplies.
Best prevention is avoiding crowds and washing hands more frequently and more thoroughly.

I agree with the last line. I think you meant to say selfishness. And that's what the message should be. Along with a better explanation why is it not effective, because people learned not to trust official statements.
I don't have a mask and it would not be effective for me as I have a beard (and I don't plan on shaving it yet). It was my observation of how the message is received in public and that people are still lining up to buy masks (despite insane prices).
As for the links that were provided as proving masks are ineffective:
Quote: FINDINGS:
Live influenza virus was measurable from the air behind all surgical masks tested. The data indicate that a surgical mask will reduce exposure to aerosolised infectious influenza virus; reductions ranged from 1.1- to 55-fold (average 6-fold), depending on the design of the mask. |

I know why they are required to wear them, that's clear. Surgeons are required to wear masks to prevent any kind of contamination during procedures, even a common cold can kill if immune system is compromised.
I want to say that it's not entirely truthful to say that masks are ineffective. They certainly help, better then being without any protection at all, but the motive is to prevent shortages for medical staff who are at disadvantage, because they HAVE TO work with infected.

If masks are so ineffective, I question then why is all medical staff required to wear them when working with infected people?
Doesn't make sense unless statements like these are intended to prevent shortages of masks for medical staff, who are at higher risk of being infected.
If everyone is buying masks it will be a problem for hospitals to obtain them, and of course prices will soar.
Which leads me to the next matter... insane prices on respirator masks. Police should take note and make a list. When this is over, please arrest merchants that wanted to profit from this.
If there are no laws against increasing prices during global health crisis, then there should be.

Exactly this. Do not go to the hospital or emergency rooms, if you absolute don't have to. Crowded waiting rooms have so far been the main reason why the infection spread so fast
