thanks imageman and just 1moreDave I can see the logic in doing this by post processing I'll give that a go I guess I have a lot more to learn as digital is so different to good old film :(

yes Anders that is awesome I'll be sure to check that out tomorrow. I've already customised my green button to select custom filters so ill pick the black and white and press info and se if i can find the red which you mention

thank you Prairie Dog and Just 1MoreDave that's what I m looking for A loot of people have suggested light room 4 and a friend of mine has sent me a 1.5 hour tutorial on this product too so I think that's the way forward for me now

Hi having only recently switched from Film to Digital ( Kr)
I wonder if someone could advise me on how to achieve a particular effect which I'm after?
I want to try to emulate the results which a red filter would give you with black and white film. where clouds a would be very white and the sky dark ( a nice contrast )effect any help would be really appreciated

thanks again Fgaudet having checked im on version 1.15 I wanted to ensure that my camera had the update to allow sdhx card format but having now checked I see the support for that had been introduced in an earlier version of the firmware so nothing to worry about there and I'll wait for a while until I put the latest version on thanks again

I recently bought a used Kr and wondered if there was anyway to check what firmware version it was using is there anyway to do that?
If not as I'm not going to be using the 1.4 teleconverter should I just install the update as it contains all previous Firmware updates anyway?

thanks Ter-or as I probably wont be doing a lot of low light shooting I figured id put the ISO at 400'as a starting point and will increase it if necessary

Hello everyone. I've been using Pentax cameras ever since I started talking photographs which was over 20 years ago. my first camera was the P30 followed quickly by the sfxn. I loaded bulk film cartridges and developed and printed my own black and white pictures. I really miss using film but I have finally upgraded and moved with the times and entered the digital world I recently bought a Kr with the twin lenses kit and am still trying to get to grips with it that's how I found this forum. I'm obviously familiar with exposure and dof control etc but I'm not finding the digital Kr to be very intuitive my initial impression was that there are so many settings that it detracts from the picture taking process, for me at least. so having read through many posts on here im going to start with Aperture priority and change the focus point to the centre im not sure about changing the white balance but will have a play with that to in time to see how it effects my photos.
