Hey All,
New to the forum and ready to learn more about how to really take advantage of the features in my K20d which I have had for several years. I'm anxiously awaiting delivery of my new lens; a Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 Di LD Macro. Up until now, I have been using my Pentax DA 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 ED AL IF Lens as my everyday lens, which for the most part has been very successful for me, (mostly outdoor photography or indoor family events using built in flash). It's been a great walking around lens for me.
To be honest, to date I have been using my K20d as a fancy point and shoot for the most part, occasionally switching to manual focus. At some point, I would really like to take a photography class, but my very busy schedule hasn't allowed that yet. In the meantime, I am trying to use sites such as this forum to gradually expand my limited knowledge.
Purchasing the Tamron 70-200mm lens is my next step in trying to up my game. This decision was made after I tried, very unsuccessfully, to photograph my teenage girls playing indoor basketball, using the Pentax 18-250mm lens. I thought I was getting some great shots of their final jr. high home game, only to be disappointed when I got home and viewed all the shots that I took. Out of over 300 pictures taken, I would consider maybe 15-20 worth sharing with anyone.
The girls are moving on to volleyball season now and I hope to get some of the basics down to use the new lens to capture more of this season successfully.
I look forward to searching through some of the archives here and getting some helpful hints.
