Something I would definitely like to try with the 120-300 if they ever release it for Pentax.

I used the D7100 for a couple of months and it would be hard to say which is "better". I can definitely say the lenses I have for Nikon focus faster and that would be the advantage I would give to Nikon.

K3 vs. Df

In regards to 1 & 2, because the bigger sensor in the Nikon can utilize more of the light coming in and has bigger photosites makes it "cleaner" at higher iso values. #3 becomes moot because of #1 and #2. That's doesn't make it a myth, that's just physics.

Body/Grip/Leather Strap/Extra Battery, all part of the kit. It all comes in one box. To sell it without a grip then someone would be pulling parts out of the box.

When my SDM failure occurred I was running on AA batteries that started running low. When I switched over to the Pentax battery the issue remained. I did just order another K-3 and this time with an extra Pentax battery....just in case. ;)

Auto focus stop responding as well?

---------- Post added 04-01-14 at 01:16 PM ----------

Interesting. I had a K-3 and ran into the runaway mirror issue. Minutes after I couldn't get it to focus. I assumed the SDM motor was the issue and it still may be. Interesting to hear someone else ran into the problem at the same time. Coincident?

Hi Chuck! If we order a camera bundle but part of the bundle is not in stock, can we still get the portion that is in stock delivered earlier? Thanks! - Dan

Due to some some hardware failures I'm not keeping my Pentax gear BUT I will never complain about the images I could capture with it.

K3 Crazy Mirror Sickness (Mirror Flapping Lockup) - Report Yours Here!

This happened to me today. First time but my K-3 is only two weeks old. Between that and the SDM failing on my lens I didn't have a very good day. Anyway, I don't shoot time lapse, just wildlife. I was in AF-C shooting in high burst with a battery pack. What I noticed was the batteries in the battery pack were getting low right before this happened. As soon as I disconnected the battery pack and the camera switched to the internal battery in the camera it stopped.

Pentax 300mm f/4 DA - noisy SDM

It just went out with it for a test and it sounded like a high pitch bell ringing. I say "sounded" because 30 minutes into testing the motor died.

This is what the AF now looks like with the 300..

The slow focusing was caused by using live view. Right now I'm debating whether or not to just send it to Ricoh to fix or return it. I don't really want to keep going back and forth and hoping for a silent copy.

This is what I expect a silent AF motor to sound like. Let me know if you hear a difference.

I've sent the videos out to both the dealer and Ricoh. I've asked them for their assessment on whether or not this is normal. If it is my attempt at shooting Pentax will be short lived. I can't have my lens sound like a high pitched bell ringing when shooting wildlife. Last thing I want is my subject to be scared off because of my gear. :(

0 for 2 now. I posted a video this time. Considering this is the only SDM lens I've ever tried my confidence in the product is shot.

I think this one is worse than the first....

I bought from the same seller so I guess this is a warning to who else may buy it. It's the luck of the draw. I got 2 from him and both are too small, he offered no other solution.
