I've checked out your blog and discovered you're a one man rabbit hole. I've spent too much time there already. My mother is Sumatran and has wrtitten a cookbook. I could tell you one or two things about rendang. What you cooked I'm afraid doesn't come close. I literally learnt to cook at my mother's knee. I've just had a quick look at Scritti Politi, after what must be decades. Wood Beez is a much more musical pop song then I gave them credit for forty years ago. Yes! 40! I agree that juxtaposing poetry composition and scientific method is tenuous. One thing I might point out is there are versions of songs and cover versions. A cover attempts to replicate the exact sound and arrangement of the original, hence cover bands. A version of a song is just that. A version and not a cover. Thank you for your blog. My weekend is now gone.

Saw Tedeschi Trucks Band in Sydney last night. No support. Pure unadulterated TTB. And when Derek Trucks started the slide opening of Midnight in Harlem the audience of course went crazy.
Here's a version from 2012:

A few weeks ago saw Víkingur Ólafsson playing the Bach Goldberg Variations at the Sydney Opera house.

In the last four weeks I've seen two of the best two concerts I've ever seen in my life. It's like going from the sublime to the sublime.
If any of you out there get a chance to see either of them beg, steal or borrow.

For what its worth my standard travel kit is the KP with the DA 21. I'm more likely to take it out with me and apart from exposure and composition there are no choices to be made. But that's just me. As I get older I become more minimalist in approach.

How to Become More Resilient when My Picture-Taking Plans Are Derailed

Some people find blue skies boring. They can also tend to play havoc with exposure. Learn to love clouds. Buy the The Cloudspotter's Guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney. Embrace cloudy skies.
NYC may be the wrong place to exclude people in your photos. Even if you're not interested in them as people they're fantastic for providing a sense of scale.
When I first bought The Americans by Robert Frank what struck me was how important it was to see the all the photos in the context of the book. Of course I recognised a few of the individual photos but they didn't really make sense in isolation. Seeing all the photos together creates the bigger picture. The chronology is less important than the collection itself.

Having said all this I've also looked at your photos and can see your strict rules have led to some striking images. They're great! You have a good eye for architectural form.

I'm like Sandy and have also reached peak camera. In the last two years I've been giving gear away to family and friends. There comes a point in your life when you start decluttering. I don't have a foot in the grave but I'm far along enough to realise you can't take it with you.

The DA 21mm + KP is my travel camera of choice if I don't take my GR. It's the perfect combination.

Aren't they worth more now than when they were first released? If you can get one for a good price then you'd be crazy not to buy.

For my level of editing skills it's all I need. Better results than Corel PaintShop Pro which I used for a long time. I love the photo indexing which enables me to quickly scan through every photo on my hard drive.

My Canon s110 from 2012 still gets a lot of love. They're also desirable. 2nd hand asking price is not much less than the new price. You'll also need extra batteries.

The most glaring gap is the DA 21mm. The KP and the 21mm are made for each other. As they come in both black and silver you can justify getting two of them.

I think I paid around 650 EUR (in Australian dollars) new. So this price isn't cheap. It's hard to believe but when it was first released it wasn't considered anything special so there were deals to be had. But it's a great camera and maybe this is what they're worth now. BTW if in the first week of October if you see someone doing street photography in Berlin around the tourist traps with a KP + 21mm it could be me.
