Sorry, I misplaced the posting into the abstract forum while it probably should be in the landscape forum.

Here are some impressions from a trip to the Bourgogne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The last photo is taken with an iPhone as I did not have time to grab the K-1 in time for the special light. And I am not even religious...

Thanks for your comments! These photos are all taken in full frame mode and most are not even cropped in post. As far as I am concerned Pentax could label the DA* 55/1.4 as full frame compatible (as it does with the DA* 200/2.8, DA* 300/4 and DA 560/5.6).

Today I've tried my DA* 300/4 with the K-1 II, yesterday my DA* 200/2.8. I've never used them with an original K-1 but the AF feels much faster than on my K-3 or K-5 II. The same is true for the DA* 55/1.4.

Same here and it actually does both. ---------- Post added 04-01-18 at 04:31 AM ----------
No, I've used Raw Therapee to convert die pixelshift shot into a tiff which I then processed in lightroom.

What I like about the K-1 (both versions) is the attention to detail.
For example, I can finally read the current focal length of zoom lenses on the rear display.
I've waited for ages for this feature and now I can put the mm tile wherever works for me.
The light button is excellent but even better is that I can define what it does.
I have only started with the first of five presets and they are all selectable via hardware dial.
I can rename it to "Action" which is way better than something like "User Mode 1".
The camera tries really hard not to get in your way while you are busy taking photos. :)

Well, I don‘t see myself using (hand-held) pixel-shift a lot. If I were you I‘d wait for the reviews to see if there is a measurable difference in high iso and autofocus performance. My impression was that there is but I didn‘t use the K-1 long enough to confirm it.

These photos have been taken in Freiburg and the Black Forest today. I've used my prime set which I've completed with the FA 43: the three limiteds and the FA 20. This will be my favourite "plenty of time, good weather"-kit and I really like the camera and the lenses.

So hand-held pixel shift seems to work. Here is a high iso example (ISO 18.000) converted from DNG with lightroom taken with the DFA 24-70/2.8 at 24mm with f/4. The first one is processed without noise reduction in post, the second one using topaz denoise 6.

I went out today to take some test shots. I have no experience with pixel shift but I've tried to create a jpg with raw therapee from a hand-held pixel shift photo of the Hochburg taken with the FA 31/1.8: Hochburg - Wikipedia
If you want to experiment you can find the original DNG file (183,5 MB) here: MEGA
This is a larger version of the JPG file (32,7 MB) but please keep in mind that it's only a first try: MEGA |

Thanks pjv for your kind words. Oh... I forgot the mandatory cat photo. I had the opportunity to use a K-1 lately with the FA 77/1.8 – a lovely combination!

Hello fellow forum members! Ever since I bought a K-7 in 2009 with the still amazing DA* 55 lens I've been reading this forum. I've signed up an account in 2014 when I was shooting a K-5 II mostly with limiteds but I've never introduced myself. I am currently shooting a K-3 but will probably buy a K-1 II soon. I am living in south-western Germany close to the border to France. I've attached a couple of photos from the region taken with the FA 31 and DA 15 in the last weeks.
The first two to are from a recent outing to the Rheinaue wetlands, not far from where I live. I wanted to take a photo of the fascinating reflections of two trees on the bank of the river Rhine. Then two conservation workers came along and one entered a shallow boat. I felt the urge to use a sepia tint for this scenery which seemed to belong to a distant past.
The Rhine can be crossed at the old town of Breisach which has a very long history of war and misery. In stark contrast to its history it is quite pretty photgraphed from the Eckartsberg.
On the other side of the Rhine lies France. The photo of the birth house of the resistance fighter François-René “Rajac” Roeckel was taken in Zellenberg, Alsace. He was a communist member of the Francs-Tireurs et Partisans and fought against the German occupation. Later, his Résistance unit assasinated Nazis running the Drancy internment camp in a suburb of Paris.
All the best, Paul
