My K30 sat around for a few months before it developed this problem with the shutter failure. A top end repair shop told me they couldn't fix it and that I had to deal with Pentax Canada directly. After 3 emails that they do not answer I'm starting to get angry wih the lack of support. I do have a K3 and it is a fabulous camera, and I will eventually get the K30 fixed for a backup - if I ever get a response from Ricoh! This seems to be enough of a problem with the relatively large amount of dissatisfied customers that Ricoh should not only take a look at the camera model displaying this problem, but develop a more agreeable and suitable customer relations policy .... that's if they want to compete in the camera market.

50mm lens Giveaway

After retirement I needed a hobby and purchased a Pentax K30 that I'm extremely fond of. In my new bag of tricks I have the standard Pentax DA 18-55mm, Pentax 18-250 mm, and my favourite Tamron SP AF 90mm F2.8 Macro - an excellent lens for floral and portrait photography.
I have no desire to become a professional photographer, but enjoy the early morning and late evening outings to capture the outdoors in its best light. I would recommend this hobby to all retirees as it gets you up and movin' for the day. It's a great excercise for your mind, spirit, and health. A lens such as the DA50 1.8 would allow me to demonstrate the basic principles of photography to the membership of our senior's photo club without the added extras of macro and zoom incorporated. A bright, simple to use lens with a standard, easy to explain operating system would be an excellent teaching tool for me to educate some of the novices in our group.
Thanks to the donor for the opportunity to participate in this contest.
