K100DS vertical line on sensor?

Hi,

Since some time I am having the same problem with my K100D. There are no dead/hot pixels in the area of this vertical line & it is in the same place in every image. It is approx in the middle of the image in landscape mode & covers the lower 2/3 of the sensor.

I had written to Pentax Japan with photo samples of the problem.
The camera is no longer under warranty. Approx repair cost is more than US $400!!!
Sensor problem is not user related......I mean no amount of user mishandling can cause a sensor defect.......it should be covered through the life of the camera. In fact as it stands, the camera is unusable. These samples are at ISO 800...but the line is there at all ISO's....just more difficult to see.

Thank you very much for inquiry of the PENTAX products.
We received your email accurately.

We confirmed your image.
There is a vertical line in the center part on the image.

Without seeing your camera it is very difficult to describe
why the said problem in your mail was happened.
Perhaps, I think that CCD of K100D is a problem.
The repair is needed.
When CCD will be exchanged, prices of parts become high amount of money.

CASE1 replace the CCD unit
Repair fee: JPY33,790-(Labor JPY9,500+Parts JPY24,290)
Postage: JPY2,400- Total:JPY36,190-

We are sorry, there is no service center in India.
Please send it to Japan if you hope for the repair.
Please bear shipping cost in that case.
