Post your Timelapses

So we have a Post your Pictures, Post your Pixel Shift Images, Post your Legacy Glass.

Time now for Post your Timelapses.

Mainly because I am now taking them with the K-1 I won. Before I never did Timelapse because of a single body. Now with the K-1 I can take my tracked/stacked images and have camera #2 creating a Timelapse!

This was created in LRTimelapse and Camtasia. I enjoy the videos created by the K-1 but by just taking pictures with the camera and then being able to edit them in LR allows my a lot more control of the image. I feel it allows me to create a better timelapse by creating the video in Post.

So my first Timelapse created w/ LRTimelapse. Earlier I had posted a video created in camera.

In-Camera processing vs. Lightroom

RAWs usually are bland since they are not applying any filters. But once you get it into a program such as lightroom, the choices are endless.

Now, some people are those that want everything in camera with minimal post processing. Which is fine. Then there are those that apply their artistic touches to the image.

Both are fine, it all depends on you. Find what you like. If you are good with the image you see on the back of the LCD, then save as JPG and call it good. If you want to take the image and maybe enhance it have some more oomph then learning to process in Post is a must.

But it is YOUR style. Also, your style can change over time. Mine has.

Pentax K-1 reputation for "bulky and heavy" - is it deserved vs. competing cameras?

It feels good in the hand. But I will admit when hauling 2 around for some trips can be heavy. Especially with the 15-30 as one of my lenses.

K-1 is slightly lighter than the Nikon D850.

1010g vs 1015g

Dims are:

K-1 137X110X86
D850 146X124X79

Everyone knows how horrible that camera is. /s

Should I get the 28-105 kit lens for the K-1 Mark II?

The 28-105 is a great travel lens. It took me a few days to get that into my head. I was in Glacier and would have the 15-30 on my camera and need a longer lens. Or I would have the 150-500 on and want a wide angle.

The 28-105 was perfect when just driving around the park.

Of course it took a few days to beat that into my head. I hope I do not forget it now.

I bought this to help me clean the sensor but also could be used to check for scratches.

I love PhotoPills.

The AR mode is awesome when you are on site to plan your shot in the day and the Planner is great to do general planning when looking for locations.

I wrote up this slideshow last summer for a presentation to a photography group. It is focused on Nightscapes instead of just star images, so I am not sure if this would help or not.

If you do read it, please send feedback.

I cannot remember if I ever posted this one.

This is probably my favorite image of this year. Although, I do plan on shooting the location again to see if I can improve my technique.

Yeah, I bet if you saw someone with the K-1 and the 15-30 you would think Pro. Just because of the size of that beast.

But for me, since I prefer landscapes and not photographing people, you will likely not see any people picks from me.

While you cannot get the latest lenses in K Mount there are still plenty of older generation ones that do decently.

All the below images were taken with the Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM

I will admit, the whole swappable grip on the KP felt like a gimmick.

But hey, Pentax is trying new things. If you do not try, then you will not find the next "must have" feature.
